"Dear Steve Thomas:" Posted by Jessica on 09:17:17 4/20/2000 I know you read this page. I hope that you do. I just finished your book and thought it was great. I don't think I could have stayed quiet knowing all the information that you do. Like you, so many of us have followed this case from the beginning and are in disbelief that it has turned out the way it has. I know that your television appearances probably came one right after the other and its hard to keep going over the same thing again and again without leaving things out but you did a great job. I only wish that when that jackass attorney, Lin Wood, was accusing you of profitting from Jonbenet's death that you would have asked him if he was working for free. Thanks for filling us in on so much that we have been speculating about for years now. I just wanted to show my support. Justice will come for Jonbenet and all murdered innocents of this world. It makes me so mad, I can only read awhile at a time. It makes me terribly sad that I agree with you that there will be no arrest, no indictment, no trial, no justice for this murdered baby. I am glad you wrote the book. I respect the work you did on the case and know that many of your fellow officers did want justice in this case. As far as the Ramseys living in perpetual hell while here on earth because of what they did, I don't buy that. (Not that you said that was the case. Others have.) They still go out to dinner, enjoy boating, traveling, whatever. All pleasures denied their daughter. They deserve to be imprisoned for what they did, but I reluctantly agree that that will never happen. I hope you find peace, Steve. Enjoy your marriage, enjoy the satisfaction of building houses. That is an honorable occupation. You did your best. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 2. "Dear Steve," Posted by Holly on 09:36:16 4/20/2000 I love your passion, your total credibility in front of the camera and your sense of justice-- but your timing sucks. What happens if anyone other than Patsy is prosecuted? You'd be toted out as the star defense witness. I share your frustration with this mess. But I prolly would have held off on book publishing until someone is prosecuted. Patsy is my best bet now, but you give JR a free ride, and that is just too hard for me to swallow. You are in a snit that the DA is yakking to the GLOBE, but you talked to the same tabs. I love ya anyway. Plus -- you're easy on the eyes. "Love the book, and despise Boulder." Posted by Cassandra on 09:53:10 4/20/2000 You did a great job of turning over the rock and exposing the slimy underside of Boulder. "Thank you Steve" Posted by momo on 09:55:04 4/20/2000 for a wonderful read. I got depressed at times, angry at times, but you came forward and hopefully someone out there will seek justice because of what you know. I'd like to see an investigation done on the District Attorney's office. JonBenet has suffered enough without a bunch of politics snuffing her rights. You bite at Patsy's ankles. You tell the truth when no truth is to be found. Honesty and integrity compliment you. Don't ever loose faith. God has a payday. "Holly" Posted by Ryder on 12:18:15 4/20/2000 NOTE: This message was last edited 12:18:15, 4/20/2000 If Thomas had waited until someone was prosecuted, that could well have been NEVER. The truth is that AH probably wouldn't have gone to the media if he were not aware that the Thomas book was coming. The timing which has to be questioned here is everyone else's - not Thomas. I note that not only does AH come out of his shell just as the Thomas book is going to hit the shelves but that the Ramseys too do the rounds for publicizing their book just before Thomas. My guess is that if they had waited until after the Thomas publication to publish their own book, they would have sold less copies + the public would be looking at them differently. In addition, had both AH and the Rs waited to do THEIR appearances on LKL and the rest of the media, they would have had to answer questions prompted by the Thomas book. Also, Holly, I wonder if the polygraph issue would have been pushed forward, had there not been a Thomas book (already out or just about to appear). Personally, I think that the timing of the Thomas book was good. Particularly since so many claim that the case is cold and the case is in the process of being shelved. Posted by Aurora on 16:25:32 4/20/2000 NOTE: This message was last edited 16:25:32, 4/20/2000 I too have been following this case since I first heard of it on the news. It touches our hearts and everyone here wants the same thing you do... JFJB. Thank you for having the courage to write your book. I can tell you that I felt a gauntlet of emotions while reading it and became so angry at times for what you dealt with ..that it became harder to finish. You captured the essence of the case and I have respect for everything you revealed. There are many of us that feel that PR is guilty of murder and know how frustrating that is when there are people who have been convicted on less than you have.. on her. I do not think Ramsey's are above the law. Someone has to be held accountable. If not in this life ..then in the next. The day you resigned was the day Boulder lost one of their best...dedicated ..honorable..officers. I commend you !!!! [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 9. "Dear Steve," Posted by chebrock on 16:21:03 4/20/2000 Thank you for writing the book and telling it like it is. I do admire your courage in exposing powerful figures and doing so without mincing words. You call a spade a spade and brought the truth to light. You've made alot of people squirm when they thought their lies would never see the light of day and you show that the rest of the world was not just sitting idly by while the DA through the case away. I now understand why he's not running again. You truly must have been tormented and I admire your standing up for ethics and principles. Your life must have been hell but I'm glad you made it through and I wish you many happy years in your marriage. Something tells me you love her very much. "To Steve" Posted by Greenleaf on 18:34:57 4/20/2000 Mr. Thomas, I have great admiration for you; However, I must agree with some of my sleuthing friends, here at Justice Watch. You don't come down hard enough on John Ramsey. Incest is the one thing you seem afraid to tackle. I can imagine that the legal advisors, at your book's publishing house, were careful not to create fodder for a law suit. Other than that, I would give you the highest marks. May God bless you and your family, and the publishing house which worked with you on this book. Greenleaf [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 12. "Dear Mr. Thomas -" Posted by lee2 on 18:49:31 4/20/2000 I read your book in record time. In fact, my son was so curious he asked me to read the first three chapters to him aloud (he's 12, and he'll do anything to command all my attention - including pulling me away from a book I can't put down!). How you EVER lasted in that new-age cesspool known as the Boulder justice system is a mystery to me. Thank you for giving so much of yourself to this case. You are the first sincere and believable person that I've ever seen interviewed regarding the murder of this innocent six year old child. Good luck putting your life back together - and although I'm sure you put the same energy into being a carpenter that you did into being a "good cop" - I think a "normal" police department somewhere is missing out on a damned good detective. Posted by Country Girl on 20:42:49 4/20/2000 I have a question for you: On page 288, you give your theory about Patsy as follows: "She was running out of time. The household was scheduled to wake up early to fly to Michigan, and in her haste, Patsy Ramsey did not change chothes, a vital mistake. With the clock ticking, and hearing her husband moving around upstairs, she stepped over the edge." Steve, John Ramsey has repeatedly stated that Patsy was in bed when he went to bed and he got up first. Wouldn't he have noticed she was not in bed when he got up? How do you seriously think John Ramsey was not involved in this murder? [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 17. "Steve Thomas" Posted by Shamrockpati on 21:17:42 4/20/2000 Spent all last night finishing the "book" didn't get a wink of sleep. It was worth it. I agree with 99.99% of what you have said in it....especially all the crap that went on in Boulder. Many of us have felt the same way during the past 3 years with all the leaks going on in Boulder and over the internet. Was someone other than "you know who" feeding information to Lou Smit during all that time? God bless you for book and hoping you have checked into JW and we may be internet junkies but we do want justice for JonBenet even if the case is over. I also think JR had quite a bit more to do with the coverup than you may think JMHO. and the dictionary open to "incest" is not a coincidence. Hope you are on some more shows to give your message out and that Gov. Owens investigates the DA's office. I enjoy seeing Alex squirm when your name is mettioned...he looks guiltier than Patsy for the mess he made. Obstruction of Justice charges for the DA's office in Boulder is warrented. "Steve," Posted by Ribaldone on 22:37:12 4/20/2000 I admire your tenacity and thank you for exposing the DAs office for what they are. Far too many people do not stand up for what they believe is right because the personal price is too high. You have told your story to the world with little regard to personal consequences. If you were a public official, I'd nominate you for a "Profiles in Courage" award! Someone has to speak up and I'm pleased that an intelligent and articulate individual like yourself choose to do so. I sent an e-mail to Gov. Owens and copied, among others, U.S. Senator John Andrews. I thought you might be interested to know what Andrew's had to say about your allegations: "Steve Thomas' perspective has the ring of truth to me." Keep up the great work Steve. P.S. Have you ever met Mark Furhman? You two could make quite an investigative pair. Think about it. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 19. Although most of the evidence you spoke about in the book has been mentioned in the tabloids, it was interesting to see how much was really true and not "creative writing" on the part of the tabs as the Ramseys have said. You are so much more credible than any of your critics including Alex Hunter. I am hoping that one day the entire truth will come out and the world will see just how right you are.
