"More Intriguing Sleuth Stuff 3" Posted by janphi on 00:28:11 4/21/2000 I have an interesting "something" I found this morning to pass along to those who don't mind a little God talk, from one who rarely spouts it. I was hoping to replicate whatever Nostradamus found on MW's family, but haven't been able to. I thought perhaps he/she went the route I would have. Knowing that MW's mother married Macky Boykin's brother, and hoping his brother also had the last name Boykin, I thought perhaps we could find his gedcom or other family tree listing and it would show his wife's name and all of her marriages and children. No, this wouldn't show any relation to the Whites, Browns, Coxes, Shoenys, Gastons, etc., but might have shown us hometowns, colleges, organizations, professions, associations, etc. Anyway, put any interesting sleuthing tidbits on this thread and I will add two of my own, following this one. Have not had time to pursue further. Any chance Nostradamus that you found a sister by the name of Bennett? I see no reason not to post a name you found, if it was found in a public record. "Good Friday Irony" Posted by janphi on 00:54:43 4/21/2000 Life is full of little ironies sometimes! Still obsessed with finding some Boykin info, I was following some links just now and came upon something entitled "Burke Boykin & Co.," book publishers. Irony #1. Clicked on it, found a scan of an old church sermon from All Saints' Day, November, 1863, published by this company in GA. Irony #2. Almost clicked it away, then noticed the sermon was given at St. James Church, Marietta, GA. Major Irony #3. Here are the links: http://docsouth.dsi.internet2.edu/benedict/menu.html http://docsouth.dsi.internet2.edu/benedict/benedict.html I'll just post here a couple of passages that struck me and why... "To-day is All-Saints' day. We to-day commemorate all those who "having finished their course in faith, do now rest from their labors." "...now where forty-six stood, five years ago, now one hundred and ten are registered as the communicants of this Parish... Forty-three times have the words been said over the open grave, "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord." Many of these, we are sure, are now sleeping in Jesus, their flesh resting in hope, their spirits joyously in Paradise awaiting the day when corruption shall put on incorruption, and mortality shall be swallowed up of life. Oh! that no sad foreboding of a resurrection unto shame and everlasting contempt, mingled with our anticipations of that glorious day. Within the five years that I have ministered to you, in this part of the Church Militant, six of the forty-six communicants whom I found here, have been laid by me in the grave. >Just thinking of those first 46 members of that congregation that had just begun the Church in 1858. Think about that. Sometime in that first year, they had to vote to buy the land for that cemetery and parcel it out the way they thought it should be, probably coming up with the money themselves and staking claims to their own gravesites. The Rev. says the Church now has 110 members and 43 have died since the beginning, 6 of which he has buried right here in the St. James cemetery. Little did they know they were making plans for Beth and JonBenet when they did this. >Then the Rev. gets really flowery and preachy about the Rapture, but has some interesting thoughts on death and burial, including Ironies #4,5,6,--well, you count 'em: "Outside every city and town and hamlet where human beings live, there grows up rapidly and steadily, the more thickly populated city of the dead. In Christian lands, the dear lifeless forms are there disposed with care, in recognition of the fact, that, in this condition, a great and mighty transformation awaits them. Soon, very soon, the population in these silent streets, and these lonely tenements, far exceeds that of the busy town, with its bustling crowds, and its homes of gaiety and happiness. Every year the stream flows on from the busy to the silent city; from the homes of the living and the loving, to the cold, dark, unresponsive chambers of the tomb. Christian faith may teach us, that the state of the soul is vastly more important than the disposal made of the material form, and that he who has Christian faith will think only of the soul of his departed friend; that, in his view, the body will be only the deserted cell, the cast-off fetter, the forgotten aurelia of the released, the exultant spirit. So, in one sense, it does. But still, under Christian teachings, the resting-places of the bodies of departed friends, are places of special interest to the bereaved. There the heart naturally feels that the loved one is lying. Despite the voice divine that tells them "he is not here," the heart still clings to the form, lifeless and mouldering, though it be, beneath the stone. There is the father, the mother, the husband, the wife, the child, the friend, that once I loved. "Here he lies" is the true, the appropriate epithet on Christian tombs... "And so he does. It is no mere concession to the dulness of the mental vision that we turn to the graves of our dead ones, with the yearning of loving hearts, and so tenderly guard their resting place. It is no mere yielding to the weakness of the flesh, that we enclose the precious dust and so carefully mark the spot where it is deposited. Here he does lie. Not only the earthly form now turning back to dust; but here lies the form that is to rise immortal, to stand with us at the judgment, to enter with us the golden gates. True Christian faith, sitting at the door of the sepulchre, thinks not only of the form that was carried lifeless and corruptible to its last earthly sleep; but also, of the body that shall wake in immortal energy and issue forth in glorious beauty. And so as the Christian tends carefully and visits lovingly the place where sleep the companions of the past, he feels that it is with the companions of the future, rather, that he is holding silent communion... "For it surely is around the tomb, that His disciples are taught to anticipate that perfect day, when mortality shall put on immortality, when weakness shall gird itself with strength, when corruption shall be raised in incorruption, and when all the blessed children of the resurrection shall "inherit the kingdom prepared for" them "from the foundation of the world." ... >Lastly, I couldn't resist at least one parting shot: "Think of our departed friends as we may--as happy as we may fondly believe them to be--at rest from all earthly labors, and that is much--free from sin and temptation, and that is more-- secure in their title to their eternal inheritance, and that is the great thing--in Paradise, the celestial ante-type of Eden's perfections of beauty and of peace--in Abraham's bosom, and so in the sweet companionship of all the saints-- present with the Lord, because absent from the body, and Page 11 hence with him in a closer union than to us here is possible-- ..." >Sorry, couldn't resist loving the way "Burke Boykin & Co." thoughtfully separated "and" from "hence" with a page break, just in case, well, you know.....Irony #118 [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 4. "My Boykin Report" Posted by janphi on 01:24:59 4/21/2000 So I can lay this to rest and so others who might be sleuthing don't spin their wheels or duplicate--since mame, Chris, the FBI, and the BPD all know who MW and her family are, but WE don't at JW, just wanted to post this for the record, but not for any of the info. (BTW, wish someone sometime could do transcripts on mame's broadcasts; I've never been able to hear any of them and I know you all are getting some good stuff that I'm not!) There is a Robert Boykin who owns a number of hotels through Boykin Lodging Inc., here's a map: http://www.boykinlodging.com/prop/index.html No connection, they're based in Cleveland, OH, but they also have a temp agency for hiring hotel & "hospitality" people (convention models, in other words, among other jobs) ... Also, they are listed as having a hotel in Oxnard, which is where Port Hueneme, CA is located where JR was assigned for a while in the Navy ... Another website, the Shreveport Webring, run by a lady named Alicia "Aly" Boykin Brown, with a dedication to her father who died in August, 1997, born in 1935 (IOW, another Boykin of nearly the same age who died a year later than Macky)--was an inventor/engineer and invented "Exitrol", a way to keep senior citizens from straying from the nursing home, daughter mentioned he suffered from depression and so does she) listed this because of Shreveport Also found a famous black inventor named Otis Boykin, plus many, many other African-American Boykins; a well known AIDS researcher, DW Boykin; and several Jewish families named Boykin; a Kate Boykin photog in Raleigh, NC; tons of Boykins in South Carolina and Alabama; tons of websites for Boykin Spaniels, all dark brown water type spaniels, sort of like Springers or English--supposedly first bred in and unique to South Carolina; a Beryl Boykin who is on NPR doing "Horror House"; there's also a Boykin geologic formation (loamy) near Jasper/Newton, TX; then there's a Boykin Group/Boykin Brothers Computing Solutions who does religious websites in Pittsburgh, PA, AND sells timeshares in Cocoa Beach, FL (??!!); wonder if the lady named "Callie Boykin" in Sacramento, CA, can sue Moron Mountain for defamation of character?--or the family of several old line Virginia 1700's Callie Boykins? Tee Hee... The majority of the Boykins I found lived in SC, Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia. Two more large groups in Illinois and Missouri. Interestingly enough, many of the California Boykins in the gedcoms came from Texas or Oklahoma (my two home states) or Kansas to get there. (Dust Bowl?) I recognize the town names as major oilfield boom towns, so perhaps a lot were oilfield workers, drawn to the newer discoveries in California. Since Boykin is a fairly unusual name and "Macky" is even more so, as a given name, I thought it odd that this name never showed up anywhere in about 50 of my genealogy sites. (Except for the SS# info that has already been posted.) However, this might mean something: I found a "Branson Macky Boykin", with no other info given, son of Bobby Mack Boykin, also no info, and Lisa Marie Waters, no info And last but not least, this message on the Boykin genealogy msg board: "I am looking for a Ted or Mack BOYKIN, they were in Weinert, TX in July 1975. Their mother, maybe Lillie, was a WEST. She was my great Aunt. She was born in 1880 in Water Valley MS. died in Montague Co (TX) 1971. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks." There is a Ted E. Boykin still listed as living in Ridgecrest, CA, the town I posted about yesterday near Trona, where Macky's last known SS# addy was. Could this be the brother that is married to MW's mother? I think it's called synchronicity...a form of the paranormal. The sermon sounded like Patsy's 1997 Christmas letter. Published by Burke Boykin...truth is stranger than fiction. Szundi sent Easter Lilies to the Peachtree Church, in remembrance of JonBenet, Panico, Babe and Allipat. St. James Cemetery, Easter lilies, JonBenet, Beth, and a long-forgotten sermon. And hence, a Happy and Blessed Easter, from those no longer with us. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 6. I entered the following, which I cut and pasted from the previous thread, just to give myself a general working knowledge. I will put them below, to save anyone who wants to look the time and trouble of going back through the other thread to look for all the places that are being discussed. Los Osos Mountain View Trona China Lake Naval Weapons Center The Los Angeles area appears to be more of a direct route from Trona; probably in the 100 to 150 mile range. Westend, Borosolvay, Argus, Trona, and Pioneer Point. Pioneer Point is only about 2 miles beyond Trona. Beyond that is nothing except desolate wilderness followed by Death Valley, IOW, don't bother to scream. Cher . [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 7.
