It wouldn't surprise me at all if different reasons for a warrant led to different ways of handling it (phone call vs doorstep), however, so I ventured a possible explanation in case that did turn out to be the situation. Given that the warrant was vacated before it was served, it's all moot anyway. Edited to improve clarity [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 7. "Well, fly, " Posted by Holly on 09:45:50 5/04/2001 a Bench Warrant may say many different things. It may say to bring the body before the court on the next business day and hold without bail, it may set bail, it may say to bring the defendant before a judicial officer for an Initial Appearance and pre-trial release consideration. It is a very serious matter. An FTA party promptly notified say, by a friend with a cell phone, can file a motion to quash/vacate or make the required appearance - late, that sits well with the judge. And the fact that a warrant was issued is a matter of permanent record. Next week I'll try to find out EXACTLY what happened. I don't care that it was Fleet White who make these remarks or if they were made by the Rammers...it is an 'IN YOUR FACE' action that shows us all just how some are exempt from justice. The issue is not even if it was a grave matter to come court or a child support violation or a failure to appear on a traffic citation! Mary99 says: "And the fact that a warrant was issued is a matter of permanent record." I have no doubts Mary because I sincerely doubt the (unbiased - yeah right) reporter who rushed to get this to press didn't 1) follow-up and get the facts (it was vacated the same day) and 2) will not bother to have a redacting article in the paper tomorrow nor apologize "on the record" (read that in the news) to Fleet for printing it to begin with. They also have FW's DNA. They have compared FW's DNA to the wonderful fleshy DNA. FW cannnot be a match for the DNA or his ass would be in prison. Therefore, it is safe to say FW did not kill JBR. And hence, the NK/FW fable has not a damn thing to do with the JBR murder and therefore has no place on this forum, unless we are going to discuss every crackpot theory in the world on the JBR forum. There is a specific forum here to discuss unrelated crimes. Isn't it about time the FW hate fest be taken there. Unless y'all want to admit the DNA isn't good enough to identify anyone. "Others subpoenaed" Posted by Ginja on 15:19:09 5/04/2001 The case at hand revolves around the attempted purchase of the ransom note from a handwriting analyst. How did Vacca get the note? Alex Hunter handed it over to the Ramseys, and the Ramseys hired Vacca to analyze it. More than ten people were subpoenaed for this hearing. What would they be testifying to? That they saw the note. That's it! That's their testimony. That's what counsel wants them up on the stand for. To say they saw the note. Fleet White was subpoenaed. Steve Thomas was subpoenaed. John Ramsey was subpoenaed. Bench warrants were issued and then immediately quashed. There is no story here. The real problem here is a woman out in California has a grudge and she's found a number of suckers on the internet to divert attention away from JonBenet's murderer and focus it on the son of her mother's godfather. She's made accusations against this man that border on filing false police reports. She's abused the system as much as she's been abused by men her mother pimped her out to. Her outrageous allegations have been investigated by the Boulder Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. None of her allegations could be substantiated or proved. The Boulder Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation have ended their investigations and have not filed any charges whatsoever against Fleet White or any member of his family. Certain people should be sighing relief that their friend with mental health problems wasn't arrested herself for filing false charges and sending two separate law enforcement agencies on such an outrageous wild goose chase! "IMPORTANT!" Posted by Holly on 09:10:35 5/04/2001 I just got off the phone with a criminal cases clerk. The bench warrant was issued and did set a bond on 5/3/01. It was then "stayed" or held until end of court. At the end of court, the bench warrant was VACATED. That means something was brought to the judge's attention regarding Fleet's failed appearance and she vacated her warrant at the end of the day. Posted by Gemini on 16:16:45 5/04/2001 I may have to rephrase that because I'm not sure "rabid" is a good descriptive word for it. You are a very intense poster. "Rabid" suggests out-of-control, and I think your posts are quite self-controlled and deliberate. You seem to have a deep conviction (just as the folks who think the Rams killed their child have) that you do not want to see die by the wayside. But (and remember, this is just IMO), I think it's totally counter-productive to reason if (and when) you carry it out to slander. Now there may be a slight possibility you have private information the rest of us do not have that leads you to your conclusions - therefore you think the truth is on your side and truth over-rides slander. But Mary, as long as we don't have that information, it would indeed be slander (or in the case of cyber communication, maybe libel) if we who are in the dark went along and muddied a reputation on your say so. There's more to it than that. Tearing down a personal reputation and "good name" is a little like murder, in and of itself. Decent people just don't go there on here-say and/or gossip, IMO. So, maybe "zealot" is a better word than "rabid", but you're running at the far edge of the flock here and may as well be prepared to pay the price. Sorry for any major typo errors but have to run an errand or two with no time to preview. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 64. "Okay" Posted by MrsBrady on 18:40:21 5/04/2001 I'm getting a lot of phone calls and emails this week, it's "like old home week", so I'm floating alot of rumors, I don't like doing it, but you all work hard and deserve a heads up, at least, dammnit. Source is a Fleet-supporter. Source said Fleet was the ONLY one who was no-show. I posted the 'rumor' on the Thursday daily thread in the late afternoon EDT and did not name target because I knew it would be 'inflamatory'. PS - I personally think the Whites are eccentric, high-strung and under alot of self-imposed pressures and stress. They are trying to raise two minor children in BOULDER and refusing to admit defeat by skulking away to Seattle or Glen Burnie or Malibu or Vinings (godforbid) unlike other SKULKERS we know and love. Posted by LurkerXIV on 09:39:10 5/05/2001 I do not object to anyone floating rumors and theories to be dissected here, and either discarded or accepted. That's what a discussion forum is all about. I DO object to people spouting rumor as FACT, identifying it as FACT, and getting away with it because they stand behind the old saw,"I cannot reveal my sources". Much of the time, lazy reporters find their "sources" in a favorite watering hole (like the Toad in Boulder), and their informant is s**t-faced drunk. I know you have many informants, some reliable, some not. We must take it all with a grain of salt. But keep that info coming, Ma. We'll just keep in mind the warning "CAVEAT EMPTOR". "Double-edged sword" Posted by A.K. on 02:28:06 5/06/2001 Threads like this and the other White bashing ones restart the clock for the statute of limitations... meaning nasty posters can and should be held legally accountable for their writing. On the other hand, it also opens up the exposure on the part of Justice Watch. Is total freedom of expression worth potentially losing the entire experiment? Obviously self-monitoring doesn't work, so decisions must be made. Nothing new, of course. I identified this legal problem when this subject first cropped up. Anyone who works in the media would be hip to this -- which is why you haven't seen Krebs' charges in any legitimate news outlet.
