"EVIDENCE 2: JonBenet's Chin Hold's Clues" Posted by Ginja on 14:27:35 5/05/2001 On JonBenet's chin there was a green paint strip and a fiber from the carpet outside the wine cellar. The green strip came from the contents of a paint tray just outside the wine cellar. The fiber supports the theory I held long before Smit's presentation. The green strip - another piece of 'new' evidence - supports the action of being in that art box - it probably was stuck on the paintbrush. These two new pieces go to support either theory - perp or parent. So their value is significant as supporting evidence, but insignificant in any changes to one or another particular theory. Of course, that's jmho. Does the evidence on JonBenet's chin point more towards an intruder? [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 1. "Tape" Posted by DuBois on 14:35:01 5/05/2001 This i think solves the mystery of where the tape came from, the paint tote. The people that belive in the intruder theory push that the perp took the tape with him. This is something else that was in the house if it was in the paint tote and belonged to PR. I think the cord was also in the tote. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 2. There were brown cotton fibers found on the cord, the duct tape, in the wood shards from the broken paintbrush and on JBR's body. What this looks like to me is that all the items came from one source -- the art supply box! As you say, this blows holes in the intruder theory where it was believed he brought the cord and tape with him and left with it. It now points more toward the parents where previously, not having the cord and tape on the premises was believed to show it had been brought in from the outside. The real clincher here are the brown fibers. Those, too, were not brought in from the outside, otherwise, they'd be left throughout the house like gingerbread crumbs left by Hansel and Gretel! So, from this newly "discovered" evidence, we see that the duct tape, cord and garotte all came from within the house, more probably than not from the art supply box. And if they came from the box, then they weren't full rolls or supplies, but instead, pieces -- explaining why the rest of the duct tape or cord roll weren't found in the house. Also dispelled is the theory the intruder took them out with him. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 5. "If " Posted by Morgan on 15:46:08 5/05/2001 the cord had been in the paint supply box, I would expect to find paint on it. I don't know what kind of paints she used, but judging from my own experience (watercolor, acrylic and oil) paints get very messy, especially oil. Of course, maybe the cord was still in unopened plastic. BTW, did anyone notice that the cord around her neck in the autopsy pix looked frayed? [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 9. "Morgan" Posted by Ginja on 18:22:25 5/05/2001 Wasn't this cord supposedly one long piece ... on one end was the stick and the other end looped/bound the wrists? I haven't seen any pictures that show that. Everything looks as though there were two separate cords. In one pix, (the one with the wrists loops) both ends are frayed. So it pretty much looks as though this cord was cut from both ends. The portion of the cord attached to the garotte, the coroner had to cut the rope off her throat. He marked the cord where he cut it. At that point, those two ends are frayed as well. As regads the paint box, the contents of the box don't show any paints, mostly all supplies like brushes and cloths and a few other things I can't make out. It may be one of those boxes where there's a top tray and then you lift that off and the paints are stored separately underneath. Didn't Ruthee think the cord was used as a canvas/painting carrier? Then it might make perfect sense to have it stored in or about the tote. "Wasn't there information" Posted by Florida on 18:22:21 5/05/2001 that one end of the cord was frayed and the other was the finished end? I'm pretty sure I read that someplace. "No Artists Have Said U Carry Canvasses W/Cord" Posted by Chatter on 19:19:57 5/05/2001 In my neck of the woods, I never heard of such an idea. There's wooden contraptions for carrying wet canvasses, resembling or adapted from a table easel. Cord would smear wet paint. Picture wire is required on the back, 2 1/2 inches down from the top, for exhibits. Correct me if things are different out West. The whole nation reads the same trade magazines, The Artists', American Artist, etc., everything pretty standard. I have a question about the garbage bags. You have to fold things to fit them into suitcases. Maybe it was just such a last minute thing, packing, garbage bags would hold more, and not have to be packed so carefully, and we just wouldn't have thought of it. Right? "Rope Sling" Posted by Zandra on 21:02:41 5/05/2001 NOTE: This message was last edited 21:02:41, 5/05/2001 Yes, we did discuss an article that appeared in one of the artists' magazines, Art Today or whatever, about how to fashion a rope sling handle for canvasses. This was awhile back and I can't give you the details, but the name of the magazine, the article title and the page it was on were all posted on the forum. "I have proposed before" Posted by ayelean on 20:57:45 5/05/2001 that Patsy the artist could have enlisted any of the men folk around her to make a sling. They're all knot tiers, scouts, sailors, etc. Then, snip snip with the knife and voilé a garrotte! Imagine the horror in the mind of the sling maker if he was present when the body was found and he recognized his own handiwork! Worth looking thru splayed fingers to see that reaction! "Ginja" Posted by Gemini on 21:09:19 5/05/2001 This clue isn't "proof" of anything, but, to me, it lends itself more to an intruder (or, at least, someone other than the parents). Here's why. This suggests JB was, at some point, face down in the boiler room ... either dragged through that area on the way to the wine cellar, or murdered there. If dragged through ... it seems far more likely a parent would carry her. If murdered there ... and remember, this is where the vent through which the scream would have carried is located ... it does not seem likely the parent would choose that remote spot to interact with and murder her. For a long while, I thought perhaps she might have run there on her own, with the killer (whether intruder or parent) catching her at the wine cellar door ... but we've heard she was afraid of the basement, so this is probably less than likely. "I'm" Posted by karen on 23:56:36 5/05/2001 NOTE: This message was last edited 23:56:36, 5/05/2001 confused about the word "strip". What does strip mean? Was it paint, tape, marker, cloth? Strip of what? Could it be "stripe" with a misspelling in the article? Stripe makes more sense to me since paint is an issue here.
