"EVIDENCE 3: JonBenet was manually strangled" Posted by Ginja on 14:29:14 5/05/2001 Marks on JonBenet's neck come from attempt at manual strangulation with perp's knuckles causing the abrasions. Some posters have theorized that a ring caused the large abrasion, which is also plausible. What I'm having problem visualizing is how one hand's would be placed around the neck to choke while one's knuckles are bruising the neck. And if the strength exerted was enough to cause the knuckles to abrade the skin, why are there no finger or thumbprints in the neck (or any evidence of same in the dissected musculature of the neck)? IOW, a new theory and worth discussing if nothing more than to figure out how it was done. ;-) [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 1. "Garrote and knuckles at same time?" Posted by Imbackon on 17:43:31 5/05/2001 Attempt at manual strangulation does not say that the attempt was during the actual strangulation with the rope does it? In other words could this mean an attempt was made at manual strangulation before the rope was applied? If so then that fits with a Parent strangling in a rage and the rope being staging which has been discussed before. "I agree, Imbackon" Posted by Ginja on 18:06:16 5/05/2001 But what I can't figure out, though, is if you place your hands around a person's throat to choke them, how do your knuckles cause abrasions? "Couldn't " Posted by darby on 18:10:28 5/05/2001 the mark have been caused by the knuckle of a hand twisting the garrote tight...or maybe a hand twisting her turtleneck sweater? "Blurred photo" Posted by Anton on 20:28:03 5/05/2001 I didn't get the chance to watch Smit or his presentations, so all I have to go on are the photos posted here and there. The close-up of the cord showing the left-side abrasion has the lower portion of the abrasion blurred. Did Smit explain that? If not, then I think there's a possibility a mark, such as an insignia, was pressed into the skin, some mark that would identify the cause of the abrasion/bruise. That wouldn't likely be the case if it was caused by a thumb, would it? [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 5. "Knuckles like so..." Posted by Zandra on 20:48:35 5/05/2001 Another issue that has been discussed previously on the forum. Insert the four fingers of your hand into the neck of a knit shirt. Rotate your wrist. Voila! You have simultaneously tightened the neck of the shirt and pressed your knuckles hard against the neck inside it. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ]
