Posted by mary99 on 22:41:42 5/09/2000 One, Steve said there would be a correction in the upcoming paperback edition of ITRI: it was a golf club, not the baseball bat, that had a hair (confirmed JB's?) on it. The baseball bat was found in the yard (north yard?), but it didn't have the hair. And, two, ST was asked, about whether the Stage 4 cancer was verified...I didn't catch his answer, as I was re-entering the chat; can anyone tell me what, if anything he said re: Patsy's Stage 4 ? At the very end, the question of the CO law which requires individual charges came up...but he didn't answer that one. Probably too long and involved for a guy without a typist and three hours to reply! Also he was upset about the 'groundless' allegations made against FW by MW. Blames AH for that. Never got a response to my question of JR's handedness. Or whether it was known by ransom note ev. whether the author was right- or left-handed. Interesting reply to question of the 911 call on the 23rd: (It was news to me) 1. Call came in as 'unknown 911', a common call, according to Steve. 2. Uniformed police responded, made contact by intercom with ? someone who said it was misdialed by someone using a cordless (or cellular?) phone. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 6. "Mary" Posted by Ruthee on 22:55:14 5/09/2000 That was interesting about the intercom. DOI reported it as though Susan Stine met an officer at the door and indicated that there was a mistake. It's interesting that they never opened the door to the responding officer. I find that very strange. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 8. "Most peculiar, in my opinion," Posted by Cassandra on 05:58:04 5/10/2000 to deal with the police at the door by intercom. Wouldn't most cops want to see someone face to face to verify that everything was ok? But, on the other hand, remember Jeffrey Dahmer and the kid and the cops who came to his house? Stine shows up frequently in this case. She was apparently the last one to see JonBenet alive, she dealt with the cop by intercom on the 23rd, (is that right?), they lived with her,and she moved to Atlanta to do whatever it is she does. How odd. Thanks for the update on Steve Thomas. I'll make a correction about the golf club in my copy. Any other corrections we need to make? I hated missing Steve, but it was my 30th anniversary.Tough choice...but I did get the most beautiful hybrid roses and a very touching card (from my hubby, not Steve ;-)) Cassie- One innocuous error I noticed in Steve's book is his reference to Beth as JB's step-sister,rather than half-sister.And he says it 3 times *cringe*.A common error, but as someone with both step and half siblings, I know there's a big difference. ok...now I feel nitpicky.Loved the book, love Steve...love,Chicky xx [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 7. "Ramseys say, "Never mind"" Posted by mary99 on 05:55:31 5/10/2000 This is classic catering to the elite...when a 911 call comes in from the 'wrong side of the tracks', would a uniformed officer leave the house after making intercom contact with an unknown adult who says, 'Never mind'? Not where I live. Why have enhanced 911 if anonymous calls aren't followed up? This increases my suspicions there was something wrong and nobody wanted to open the door. I thought in earlier (Ramsey)accounts, the cop was invited in and left after seeing for himself that a party was in progress and everything seemed OK. There were some limits to ST's replies based on the number of questions coming in and at one point the moderator or Steve mentioned that he had to keep his replies brief, so it's understandable that he wouldn't answer a question if he couldn't do it justice. "I don't love Steve" Posted by DrTee on 15:21:02 5/10/2000 I'm almost through the book, and first of all, it's very well written, much better than Schiller's, although it also has the weakness of not giving us enough dates here and there to let us know exactly where we are in the whole mess. I still haven't found anything in the book that proves Patsy did it. Just because she wrote the note doesn't mean she did it, and I am troubled by what I believe was prior sexual abuse. But I still have a hundred pages to go. What bothers me about the book is the ultra-conservatism. I'm apparently one of the few liberals on this forum. I vote Democrat (though this year I may have to vote Green Party) and I am against the death penalty. So Thomas's comments about liberals (that we are all "soft" on crime and that all murderers should be fried) is offensive to me. I was disappointed in chat last night (as I have been in chat with Schiller TWICE) at the way everyone dismisses the 911 call on the 23rd. I know that false 911s are common, but how often are they followed by a murder in the same house? I don't mean to come down hard on Steve Thomas. I like the book and I've actually picked up some new information from it (who'd have thunk it?) but I don't see how we can exclude John so quickly from anything but writing the note. Remember JOHN's the one who took a shower that morning. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 45. Second guess would be covering up John's or Burke's crime, but that would be still further away in the priorities of motives of writting a fake ransom note, I think. **and I am troubled by what I believe was prior sexual abuse** I am too.I can accept that Patsy could have been torturing JB that way,(stranger things have happened) but if so, I can't imagine HOW IN THE WORLD no one around them noticed anything weird. **What bothers me about the book is the ultra-conservatism. I'm apparently one of the few liberals on this forum.** Okey, here is my problem with labels. I would say I am a person who also is very reluctant with ultra conservatists views IN GENERAL.I like to consider myself a liberal. Still, the very few pages that I have been through in Steve's book make me ashamed of the "liberals" he critizes in his book. I think I would critize the very same things the same way (and again, I am in the VERY beggining of the book, so maybe later on I'll think differently). Boulder HAS BEEN soft on crime, and I don't like that.Crime is crime, no excuses. ** I vote Democrat (though this year I may have to vote Green Party) ** I think I will too, truly. **and I am against the death penalty.** See what I mean about labels?I am pro death penalty (the only one in my family). At least in the cases of reincidences in MURDER. I would love to see all the money that goes to pay the murderer's therapist to go pay the VICTIM's therapist. That's where I want my taxes to go. And to raise the salaries of police officers, teachers and firemen. Oh, don't get me started. ** So Thomas's comments about liberals (that we are all "soft" on crime and that all murderers should be fried) is offensive to me.** I don't see why it is offensive to you unless you live in Boulder! **I was disappointed in chat last night (as I have been in chat with Schiller TWICE) at the way everyone dismisses the 911 call on the 23rd. I know that false 911s are common, but how often are they followed by a murder in the same house?** True, true. I'm with you a hundred per cent in that one. **I don't mean to come down hard on Steve Thomas. I like the book and I've actually picked up some new information from it (who'd have thunk it?) but I don't see how we can exclude John so quickly from anything but writing the note. Remember JOHN's the one who took a shower that morning** SO TRUE.But why in the world would Thomas dismiss him so quickly? I'll finish the book and see what I think about it afterwards. "Webtv loss is not being able to chat with ST" Posted by ayelean on 15:52:10 5/10/2000 I do hope the transcripts go up where I can access them. This lesbian love slave thing, is the slave Patsy, Susan Stein, or Jams? Not hard to imagine any of them. Maybe even a triangle. I might have to relook at my theory. Steve, will we know if and when you are posting here? I have some suspicions. You would be joining a good bunch of sleuths. If it can be proven that Patsy wrote the ransom note, isn't that grounds enough for a very long sentence since it is about the kidnapping of minor and a minor who should have been afforded protection by the writer of the note. Even if JBR had not been killed but a kidnapping was used as a ploy, isn't that a Federal crime? [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 42. Well, I'm a Democrat and I'm liberal but I've got the common sense to know that whoever wrote that note killed that little girl. Patsy was in the house. Patsy's fingerprints are on the pineapple bowl from which JonBenet last ate. Patsy lied and said that JonBenet went straight to bed without eating. Patsy claims to have found the ransom note but her fingerprints were not on the note which means that she was wearing gloves when she came down the stairs in the exact same outfit that she wore from the day before. I don't think that even Patsy would have accessorized with gloves (even though Jackie Kennedy may have in similar circumstances), which would suggest that perhaps she was wearing gloves because SHE JUST COMMITTED A MURDER! Folks, we're talking about guilt beyond a "reasonable" doubt. Sure maybe Patsy's fingerprints aren't on the note because it was a special type of paper that would not pick up the fingerprints of Patsy Ramsey. However, the pad from which the note came had only the fingerprints of Patsy and police officers on it. So, I guess the special "frame Patsy paper defense" won't work. Get real . . . Even a liberal can see this one - get this drama queen out of the media spotlight and put this drama queen in front of a jury. Certainly she was involved in the coverup at the very least. What I'm saying is that just because she wrote the note doesn't mean she committed the murder. John could have committed the murder and Patsy helped him with the coverup. As I said, I still have a hundred pages to go and am looking for Thomas to explain how he makes that extra leap from Patsy writing the note to Patsy having committed the murder. I'll be back when I'm finished. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 47. "Sioux" Posted by DrTee on 16:58:51 5/10/2000 Thanks for the civil debate. I can imagine John getting Patsy to help him coverup. The argument could have been, look, Patsy, you're going to die soon with this ovarian cancer, and if I'm in prison Burke won't have a parent. I can see that sooner than I can John covering up for her. Again, I'm not saying this is what I think happened, just that it haven't ruled it out yet. As for the abuse, this is where Thomas's book comes in and makes some additional points. That JB not only wet the bed but also defecated in it could be a sign of abuse, as Thomas explains. And this seems to have started up again about a month before her death. Also, Thomas mentions that JB had seen a therapist, but that they couldn't get any information because of the patient/dr. confidentiality crap. About labels. I don't think it was the fact that Hunter is a liberal that makes him so despicable. It's that he is spineless and, well, just despicable. Surely Lou Smit is conservative, but he behaved despicably too. It has nothing to do with politics. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 48. "Hey Steve," Posted by Ribaldone on 17:22:44 5/10/2000 that was fun last night. Let's do it again soon! (wink) I thought it was fun to see another side of you. In TV interviews you are very professional and articulate, but last night we saw a little more of your personality. You sounded like you were enjoying yourself as much as we were (well almost). Anyway, it was great. I hope to see you on the JW chat. I'm guess I'm going to have to start going now! I wonder if Mrs. T gets a kick out of reading our posts slobbering all over her husband. Can she say SHARE? [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 49. "Throws cold water" Posted by v_p on 18:26:33 5/10/2000 on Ribaldone .. lol.
