        On 4/2/01 Steve Thomas announced he had retained Dan Petrocelli to
        represent him in the Ramsey libel suit.

        A defense fund was immediately established and now another defense
        fund is looking for financial help. Fine.

        But what I am curious about is, IMO, the nearly total silence from the
        LA based Mr Petrocelli. Anyone who has read his book on the OJ case -
        TRIUMPH OF JUSTICE, knows that Petro is passionate for his causes
        and not one to sit behind the scenes.

        Where are the TV appearances? Where is a press conference? Where is
        an in depth article promoting his client's position? I haven't even seen
        Petro pictured with Thomas. Have they even met?

        It's been 5 1/2 weeks and barely a peep.

        He is saving his ammunition for the battle....Ramsey and Co. have
        revealed their position and condition very openly, perhaps to their own
        demise...Steve and Pet are behind their wall of defense piling up their
        hangranades....

        Me thinks there are going to be a series of well aimed explosions at trial
        and a surprised and confused RST team....

        Steve Thomas was there in Boulder making observations of the murder
        and the Ramseys from the very start....I don't think he used everything
        he had to lob when writing his book....

        Bet Steve has been remembering lots of details while working on his
        carpentry this past year....nothing will bring back the true memories of
        an event, like having someone deny the truth, and then attack one for
        it!

        I think Steve and Petrocelli are biding their time and building their case
        on all of the "new imformation" that Smit and Co. are currently
        presenting publicly....

        I think Petrocelli is keeping his powder dry.

        He'll let them yap all they want, then he'll
        hoist them on their own petard.

        Petrocelli knows exactly what he is doing. He's a smart cookie and,
        unlike Woody, he actually IS a criminal defense lawyer who knows how
        to represent his client.

        Let the Rams and their idiot lawyer keep yapping -- everything they
        say can and will be used against them in a court of law!

        Since Petrocelli is a smart strategist I am sure he is just waiting for the
        right time. Also I would assume since he is in the defensive mode (not
        like in O.J.) his strategy is a bit different.

        But what is wrong with a press conference with Petro sitting beside his
        client? That's the time to put on the record what you are not going to.

        No. This, IMO, is not good.

        my house on it. I'm not even suggesting anyting resembling the PR he
        did for the Goldman's - just a position piece or a press conference. It's
        been five weeks.
