"DFW Area -- Come Pray with the Ramseys!!" Posted by Policedog on 06:53:02 5/17/2000 Updated: Wednesday, May. 17, 2000 at 01:21 CDT Ramseys to appear in Euless for evangelist's talk show; couple plan to discuss Christian faith, daughter's killing By Tara Dooley Star-Telegram Staff Writer EULESS -- They may just be the most recognizable parents in the country. After the killing of their 6- year-old daughter, JonBenet, more than three years ago, John and Patsy Ramsey took center stage in a case that continues to evoke strong emotions from an audience of American onlookers. Photographs of the Ramseys, especially JonBenet, are regularly splashed on the covers of supermarket tabloids, and the killing remains a popular topic on radio talk shows. Sometimes, the parents are accused in the child beauty pageant queen's death. Other times, their innocence is proclaimed. Recently, the Ramseys added their voices to the chorus by taking to the interview circuit to promote their new book and to answer the accusations. On May 30, the Ramseys can again be heard -- this time in Euless. The couple will tape a segment of Life Today with James Robison, a talk show hosted by the Christian television evangelist. The show will air in mid- July, producers said. "I plan to talk very candidly with them but give them an opportunity to perhaps share some areas that they have not been able to share on other programs," James Robison said. In particular, the Ramseys are eager to speak about their Christian faith, said Rolf Zettersten, publisher of the Ramseys' book, The Death of Innocence. "Their relationship to Christ is an element that hasn't been explored in any of the other interviews they have done," Zettersten said. "They really would like to talk to someone purely about their faith experience and how God has sustained them through this ordeal." In recent months, the Ramseys have appeared on a series of television programs. An interview with the couple also appeared in Newsweek. Robison's show is the first Christian program to host the Ramseys. But they may speak on other religious television or radio shows, Zettersten said. "Until now, the Ramseys have been portrayed to the public by the tabloids in a negative way," he said. "I don't think the Christian community understands that these are decent God-fearing people who have a deep relationship with Christ." JonBenet was found beaten and strangled Dec. 26, 1996, in the basement of the family's Boulder, Colo., home. A grand jury investigated the case for 13 months before disbanding in October without indictments. Although no charges have been filed, the Boulder police have said that the parents remain under an "umbrella of suspicion." The Ramseys have repeatedly said they were not involved in their daughter's death. In their book, they present a theory that an intruder beat and strangled JonBenet. This spring, the couple said they would undergo polygraph tests if administered outside the Boulder Police Department. The department Monday declined an offer by the American Polygraph Association to conduct the tests. Robison said he and his wife, who co-hosts the show, will not shy away from asking the Ramseys difficult questions about JonBenet's death. But the show also will offer time for prayer, he said. "If public opinion were raising all sorts of questions about me, I would want someone to pray for me," he said. This report contains material from The Associated Press. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ramseys in Euless Reservations are required for the taping of the show with John and Patsy Ramsey at 7 p.m. May 30. The program also will include segments with Doug Herman, author of Faith Quake: How to Survive the After Shocks of Tragedy, which is about the AIDS-related deaths of his wife and daughter. Seating starts at 6:30 p.m. Information is available at 267-0040, Ext. 482. Send this page to a friend From:To: For home delivery of the Star-Telegram, dial (817) DEL-IVER. I am appalled by the Ramseys going on TV again. Someone should tell them that everytime they appear on television they come off looking worse and worse to the world. "It would have been nice if" Posted by fiddler on 11:47:53 5/17/2000 God had done a little more sustaining of JonBenet when He had the chance, is all I can say. And thank goodness for all those non-Christian, non-God-fearing people the Lord has obviously provided specifically for the Ramseys to take out their frustration on, like Linda Hoffman-Pugh and her husband, Bill and Janet McReynolds, Chris Wolf, Jeff Merrick, Judith Phillips, Fleet and Priscilla White, the Boulder Police, and all the citizens of Boulder. John and Patsy could never have endured their horrible persecution, otherwise. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 30. "Christian Expectations" Posted by BusDriver on 11:51:56 5/17/2000 I must admit to having been a Christian all of my life. Having been a Catholic for 35 years, I turned to Methodism when I got divorced and remarried. My early days in Catholic school trained me to ask a lot of "what if" kinds of questions. We used to ask these questions and drive the nuns crazy. Questions like: 1). If you eat meat on Friday but don't think it's meat, is it a sin? and 2). If you went to confession and stole a candy bar on the way home and got run over by a bus and killed -- would you go to heaven or hell? So, with this kind of training, I tend to ask myself questions about what will happen to the Ramseys when they go to the great hereafter. It seems to me that Christian teaching would not require a guilty Patsy and John to confess to the police. Rather, I think that it would require sincere contrition, and some attempt (however feeble it may be) at atonement through a life of humility and good works. Having said that, I will tell you what bothers me as a Christian about the behvior of Patsy and John. I am convinced that they at least covered up the murder of their daughter and may have murdered her. And yet, I don't feel outraged that they have not confessed to the crime(s) and gone to jail -- even despite the horror of the crime. What does outrage me is that they continue to parade themselves in the public eye as innocent people for attention and profit. To me, this is rubbing salt in the wound. I don't believe that they feel contrite and I can't see that they are making any attempt to atone for their misdeeds. I don't know if I believe in the traditional heaven and hell. But, if there is a hell, it has to be waiting for the Ramseys. They may have escaped the police; they may have escaped the DA; they may have escaped the Grand Jury. But, even Hal Haddon is not going to get them out of hell. BD [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 32. "Bus Driver, I'll ride your" Posted by gaiabetsy on 12:25:53 5/17/2000 bus, I think. I'm a Buddhist, and I believe these people are as acceptable as any other human beings. I also believe they'll "get theirs" when they die. I believe they'll reincarnate as two jackasses, if justice is served. My problem is I want to satisfy one of my vices. I wish to see them squirm in a courtroom for many months and then be found guilty of their lovely, little girl's death. I want to see them ostracized by any and all who meet them (kinda the OJ syndrome). Mostly, I want to feel justified in my belief they are guilty by having it proven in a courtroom. Oh, and it would be nice if Patsy "broke down" during the trial and admitted her guilt. Wouldn't it be wonderful? [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 34. "Oh my gosh" Posted by Msracoon on 12:44:32 5/17/2000 I just got home, getting my lunch as I log on for news and what do I see? First, this thread and then my lunch all over the keyboard. Ha! My only comment here is: God is God and none other. I will NOT judge someone else's soul but I will share with you the scripture that comes to me that God said in His Word: "test the spirits". To me that is the bottom line. Nothing surprises me any more. We are living in evil days. The enemy (satan) comes masked as an angel of light (that is also written). He is a liar. He is the father of ALL lies. He has always been a liar and will always be a liar. How will we know the difference between the truth and the liar? Test the spirits. Always, always, always. It's taken me many years and a lot of pain to even come close to knowing the difference (depends on how much I pray as to how much He lets me know) but that is what is the answer for me. Test, test, test. Just because someone says they are something does not make it so. Stop, look and listen. Oh, yes it's been a long and painful journey for me - listening to words and lies and finding out the difference later. What's my take on all of this? Don't really have one. I'm gonna just keep on testin', and laughing at the devil. He is SUCH a liar, isn't he? Oh yes, stating that one is a Christian is E A S Y. I have lurked on this forum and the BNf since the beginning. I rarely if ever post, but I am so disgusted with them that I am jumping out of my lurking mode. These people really think that the world is so stupid that their statics will convince anyone that they are innocent. Not turning over evidence, refusing to answer questions, not taking a lie detector test, going on national tv to help them get on with their life, help us catch the killer by buying our book-give me a break!!! And now - going on a religious talk show - that is beyond contempt! Do they realize they have broken every commandment? Remember Patsy and John, "God knows who you are." A true Christian would be more concerned about his/her soul - not the outward appearance of this life. Going on TV is not going to save your soul. And to all the "wonderful" people that have helped them evade and twist the truth - you are just as quilty. How long is this misjustice going to be allowed to continue? I apologize in advance for my venting - but I am so disgusted with them and the Boulder justice - or should I say misjustice - system that it was time for me to let my voice be heard. How better to discredit Christ than to pose as his disciple and do vile things in His name? It was Hitler's philosophy, wasn't it? The more outrageous the truth, the less apt it is to be believed? And, the more outrageous the lie, the more apt it is to be believed? Satan does indeed masquerade as an angel of light. But Jesus said: "By their FRUITS, you will know them." Talk about hypocrisy..how can any Christian judge them? God can see what is in their hearts...even if they preceive to us (public) to be something they are not. They can NOT fool God. They should FEAR him. What is that old saying... The road to hell is paved with good intentions.....? I am sifting through the DOI and finding out that it is alot like reading someones diary. Bits and pieces of the tapestry of their lives forming..meshing....into something really beautiful before it one day started to unravel...and became vile. "A Prayer for the Ramseys" Posted by Anton on 22:35:59 5/17/2000 Note for gaiabetsy: I'm a Taoist and I believe firmly in the balance of positive and negative, as well as reincarnation. I truly feel sorry for the Ramseys (all of them). They apparently are not aware of what they are doing to themselves. This will become clear to them in good time. They are already suffering; the suffering began in earnest the moment JonBenet's spirit left their realm, although I suspect their suffering began long before then. As for reincarnation, I believe they will return in whatever form their spirits need. The very worst, IMO, would be for them to come back as themselves and do this all over again. FWIW, here's a prayer I can imagine them uttering at their meeting with Rev. Hellyhole. Our Father who are not in our home Hallowed be our fame. Our income sum has well begun to earn in figures over seven. Give us this day our daily press. Forgive us a death and free us from our betters. Lead us through this temptation to deliver further evil. For mine is the income and the power and the glory. In JonBenet's name we prey. They'll have to come back as whatever they need to be to work through their own personal difficulties from one incarnation to the next. Let's put it this way, no way they'll reach enlightenment in this life or probably several others. I see them as hungry ghosts never able to satiate their voracious appetite of the senses. It's all about money and the outward show. I look at people like this, and I can't help but wonder how they can be so lost from the truth and reality? I also don't know why they'd want to be lost. Of course, the world is filled with lost and confused souls.
