"LKL Cancels Chris Wolf" Posted by New York Lawyer on 08:59:58 5/23/2000 In an effort to avoid offending the Ramseys, who gave Larry King some of his highest ratings when they recently appeared on his show, LKL has cancelled tonight's (5/23)scheduled interview with Chris Wolf. They have substitued an hour long discussion about President Clinton's disbarment proceedings. [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 1. "Whoa" Posted by Cassandra on 09:06:04 5/23/2000 When I saw your thread title I thought it had to do with the Kings having a baby this AM. The Ramseys have several friends at CNN, don't they? With this abuse of power going on, how can we expect justice? I doubt Larry had a say in this. By all means, let's not offend the suspects in a murder. So now the other side can't even be heard. OK, what about Geraldo? This is disgusting and the Ramseys keep sinking to new lows IMO. What are the chances that the Ramseys wouldn't even have known about the show tonight if we hadn't posted it? Maybe we should wait until the last minute to post anything that will be televised that could tell the truth about who the Rams really are and how they're twarthing the justice system; along with their lawyers who are on a moral par with baby killers. All the Ram stoolies have to do is read here and report - and that keeps the Rams one step ahead of everybody. OK, guys, we need to stop feeding them info. Discussions are one thing, but TV alerts are quite another. The TV alerts could be posted the day of - even hours before. Does this sound reasonable? Sorry, NYL. We need to keep our lights hidden under a bushel a bit more and use the element of surprise on them. I, for one, will not be posting any more TV alerts in advance. Edited to add: Thanks for the update, though, NYL. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 8. "fly" Posted by Seashell on 09:32:15 5/23/2000 I would guess you're both wrong, if the excuse was that someone didn't want to "offend" the Ramseys. I haven't seen the release on that blurb. Fly, you really need to learn to be a bit more suspicious of the Ramseys and their ability to manipulate. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 11. "Rudely Cancelled" Posted by New York Lawyer on 09:58:44 5/23/2000 I received the cancellation by phone. It was tersely and rudely given to me with no attempt at an apology. No attempt was made to re-book Chris, either. In light of the fact that LKL made Chris promise not to appear on any programs prior to this interview (so that they could have an "exclusive"), their conduct is outrageous. Chris took off a day from work. These jerks even printed a schedule listing Chris Wolf's interview on the internet (see Mrs Brady's.) As for Clinton's disbarment, remember this: When Elian was a breaking story, LKL would devote part of the show to it, and then spend the balance on the scheduled programing. It was a simple matter to schedule Chris Wolf for the last fifteen minutes of the show. Instead of doing that, they cancelled the interview COMPLETELY. They reneged on a verbal agreement which Chris upheld. In fact, he turned down several interviews for this show. What better way to keep Chris Wolf from talking about the Ramsey case than to get him to promise to do no media after he's filed his lawsuit when there is great demand for him, and then "cancel" him at the last minute when the story about his lawsuit has "cooled down?" It's a clever way of "managing" the news. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 9. "Seashell" Posted by fly on 09:36:33 5/23/2000 I'd suggest you quit looking for conspiracies around every corner. :-) Disbarment is big news. Wolfe isn't - at least not to the 95% of the population that doesn't follow the JBR case closely. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 12. "LKL" Posted by Ribaldone on 10:00:04 5/23/2000 Did they reschedule Chris? The Clinton story is a bigger one so if that's the reason Chris was bumped, fine. But, if CNN, in any way, indicated that Chris was cancelled because they didn't want to offend ANYONE -- that is B.S. Filing a civil lawsuit is not "offensive" subject matter. It is unconscionable for a news organization to be more concerned with not offending murder suspects or ANYONE else for that matter, than actually reporting news. That's just unacceptable. If Chris has been (or will be soon) rescheduled, then he's just been postponed because of a breaking story. I've got no problem with that (other than a little disappointment because I wanted to see him). [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 10. "fly" Posted by Seashell on 09:51:56 5/23/2000 I agree that the disbarment news would take precedence - so where did the word "offend" come from? NYL, did you actually see that or did you make it up as your own editorial? Here I thought we had an official paper release saying CNN didn't want to "offend" the Rams. Now I'm thinking we have NYL telling us what he thinks, not what he knows for sure. Sorry I bit on that. I stand corrected. (I should at least wake up before I open the threads). [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 13. "NYL" Posted by Starling on 10:05:02 5/23/2000 Well, if they didn't make an attempt to reschedule, that is suspect. Why don't you try calling to reschedule, since they did ask you to not do interviews with anyone else, prior to the airing of Chris' show? If they don't want to reschedule - screw em'! Take it to someone better than King anyways. CNN sucks.LOL Use your FOX connections and go for the primetime slot McKinnley got for the Ramsey's recently. That's better than LKL anyday.
