What a perfect disguise. I hope Beckner has loaded him up with the questions that need answering. I wish that wasn't too good to be true. If you read this Steve at least suggest it to Beckner, what could it hurt? So some little details leak out-atleast the truth will surface and the Ramsey's will be put in their place. I don't want this to happen, even though Steve is the one who asked for this and challenged the Rams to it. Pathological liars will have an answer for everything that will sound plausible and make it appear that they have the upper hand, until five minutes after the program is over and someone actually thinks about what they just heard. Oh, woe is me. Don't think this is a good idea. Steve's life doesn't depend on this, the Rams' lives do. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 3. ""J"" Posted by Ruthee on 19:37:47 5/30/2000 don't underestimate Steve Thomas. Please remember that he has interviewed Patsy Ramsey before. I'm not saying he is will approach her in a confrontational style, I don't think he will. Book or no book, Steve knows things that the Ramseys don't know he knows. All he has to do is hit them with one of those questions and I'll sit there and watch them stutter. I really believe that some people may be mislead by Steve's baby face. He is no dummy. Patsy's problem is that she thinks he is. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 9. "Ruthee, the media factor" Posted by janphi on 21:27:59 5/30/2000 I'm not underestimating Steve--I know he can hold his own. But these are the people who called him a "moron" and it went into print in the Denver paper and will be there forever. He doesn't have the same media draw and muscle the Rams do--any misspeak on his part will be repeated and repeated and repeated by the Rams on this seemingly endless spin tour. I still don't like this, not at all. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 16. "IMHO" Posted by lee2 on 22:48:28 5/30/2000 Steve has an excellent vocabulary and I've never once seen him flailing his arms around in an interview. I think he'll do just fine! "LKL 5/31" Posted by ace21214 on 19:41:26 5/30/2000 I hate to put a damper on this whole thing but tonight on Geraldo there was a statement from Lin Wood (in writing) that Steve Thomas was the definitely the next to be sued. I'm not so sure it's good idea for Steve to face them tomorrow night and tip his hand. Remember - in this law suit Steve is really holding all the cards. They will have to prove that they are innocent in a court of law. I'd love to hear a blistering cross examination but I'd hate to tip them off beofre hand. Any opinions? "Ace, unfortunately, the Ramseys" Posted by mother on 19:56:11 5/30/2000 don't have to prove themselves innocent in a court of law, the prosecution (if case is ever brought to trial) must prove them guilty. Funny thing - the more they appear on all the tv shows, the more they run their mouths contradicting their previous statements, they'll end up convicting themselves. It'll happen - eventually. After I thought about the debate for awhile it made me worry. The devil is always working harder to make the truth look like lies. He was hired to be a media consultant (talking head) in the event of a Ram trial. I can't recall which network it was, but it was one of the major ones. My guess is that he has been professionally trained by the media because he has come off very well to date. In addition, I think he is a natural-born communicator. Combine these two and you have a very strong force. I am thinking that if anyone can handle this, it will be him. Steve Thomas deserves this moment. I am not yet through with his book, but to date it has been one long frustrating encounter with corruption, ineptitude, and evil. I sympathize with him from the bottom of my heart. He wanted to do the right thing; he worked hard to do the right thing, but at every turn the corruption and pure foolishness of the DA's office thwarted him. Wow, Ruthie, I must confess when I first heard about this report of the LKL show, I did not believe it. Thanks for the update. Cher . "Ace" Posted by Ryder on 21:23:16 5/30/2000 Yes, I also was interested in that discussion topic and it was said that if the suit against him goes forth, the onus is on the plaintifs to disprove his claims, and show malice. I'm not sure that at this point the "tipping" of the hand thing is that important. Both sides have already gone very public with what they have to say. "Steve has truth on his side" Posted by Coolteach on 21:58:13 5/30/2000 and he comes over sympathetically and intelligently. I'm sure I won't be the only one praying for him. He may be a David and they a Goliath...but hey, it only takes one stone. Steve doesn't get his strength to face the day out of a bottle of medications, and he doesn't get his lines scripted by a team of lawyers. Wouldn't you know I'm teaching a class tomorrow night! I'll have to record it. Steve, we wish you strength. Don't be intimidated. I hope you are collecting your smooth stones!! Steve Thomas knows the case, he thinks they're guilty, and he loathes both Ramseys--they've NEVER been up against that before. Not on TV, anyway. Posted by GuyGene on 23:18:55 5/30/2000 I have a hard time believing that the R's and ST will be on LKL together. I'll bet they'll be interviewed by LK in separate segments. I've seen other situations on LKL where something is promoted as a "confrontation," but is presented in separate segments. I hope I'm wrong, though. If LK would just shut up and let ST interview the R's, THAT would be a show worth watching. If they're in separate segments, I don't think we'll hear much that's new. Just because Rams/ST are both on the bill for LKL tmw night does not mean they will 'debate' or even interact in real time. The program will likely be in segments, as is typical for LKL fare - each side will speak independently. Over the past yrs, LKL has typically presented a guest list that's stacked pro-Ram. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see other guests in tmw night's line-up in addition to the Ramseys and Steve Thomas. I don't expect any major confros (go ahead, Larry - surprise me and change the format of your show). And like I said on the other thread, this tragic case is not up for entertainment or public debate no matter how long the rope - wrong arena. Its resolution, if possible, needs to begin with testimony under oath and not this or any other media display in which the 'suspects' participate, or divert & confuse. Major inconsistencies so far haven't made a whit of diff - why think this supposed 'debate' will change the course? [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ]
