"5/31 LKL Thomas to Debate Part Two" Posted by eedayspa on 06:33:28 5/31/2000 This will be pretty bizarre if it actually takes place, and I hope that Thomas and Green are ready for the "less favored status" that CNN will most likely give them. IF it does take place, I hope that make good debate points and keep their dignity...... I still think that a cancellation is likely..... "Bible, painting, baby shoes, dolls, cherished momentos" Posted by pinker on 06:55:14 5/31/2000 For debate I'd like the status of the items removed from the home investigated. In Steve's book he talks about the stuff walking out the door never to be seen again while the Ramsey's claim everything was photographed and catalogued, which is it? Was that information Pam readily supplied or were the Ramsey's sweating bullets as they asked her? Good luck Steve. Pull out ALL your guns and knock em' dead. "Case Closed" Posted by straykat2 on 07:07:55 5/31/2000 Patsy announced on GMA that after the LKL show tonight the case will be closed. I wonder if one of them is going to confess? LOL. Posted by janphi on 07:05:04 5/31/2000 Here's an e-mail I sent 5/30/00 to NBC, but I feel the same way about this LKL Show: Dear NBC "Today Show" Producers: Those of us following the Jon Benet Ramsey murder case in-depth learned on the Internet last night that John and Patsy Ramsey are scheduled for yet another appearance on the "Today Show" this week, on Wednesday, May 31. By my own calculations, the couple has been given well over $500 million worth of national press time (and closer to $1 billion in coverage that was not controlled by them) under the theory that this ongoing exposure will result in someone somewhere turning in leads on a possible suspect in the murder of their daughter. Knowing that, for some reason, the media seems to believe the Ramseys are still a large entertainment draw and therefore revenue-producers, I still have to ask: How many good leads have been produced by these public appearances? How many have been investigated by the Ramseys' private team of investigators? How many have been turned over to the Boulder Police Department or even to District Attorney Alex Hunter's office, since there is an adversarial relationship between the Ramseys and the BPD? Why are all these appearances only focused on how the parents are "coping" now and not on what progress has been made in the private investigation, which they refuse to reveal anyway? Do you think it is fair for the Ramseys to receive so much coverage, in which they are allowed to speak their mind and to influence viewers as to the state of law enforcement in America being inept and corrupt? What must our young people think when they hear this couple speak? Indeed, what does the average innocent person--who has never had to deal with the police--think about this? Why is it all right for there to be a "rich man's" justice and then a perceived "police state" for the rest of us? Are we, the viewers, supposed to be impressed with the privileges of their--and your--elitism? The Boulder Police Department is not allowed to express its own viewpoint to the magnitude that the Ramseys are and I feel this is unfair and one-sided--and just one more drop in the bucket of problems that overwhelm the justice system in the US. Statistics may show that crime is going down, but that is only because so much of it is no longer reported or investigated, out of a sense of frustration and "what's the use?" Look who is picking up on this cynicism and quiet anarchism--the young people. No one profits from this except the attorneys. Everyone else loses. How many inept and corrupt law enforcement officials do you think there are in the U.S.? Do you think it is more than 1% of the police, sheriffs, FBI and others? I don't. I think they have very tough jobs staying on top of perpetrators, much less trying to stay ahead of them, and people like the Ramseys and the line of hatefulness and non-cooperation they spread, simply to make themselves look better, are diametrically opposed to the general welfare of the American public. Are you aware that the Ramseys have told some outright lies to you in their previous "Today Show" appearances, as well as many inconsistencies in comparison to other interviews they have done and narratives they have written? Why don't you ever confront them on these? Do you really believe that one day they will break down and confess on the "Today Show" because you've been nice to them over the past 3.5 years? Is any of this even about the murder of Jon Benet Ramsey or about ratings and some kind of one-upsmanship where the viewers are the pawns? Is your staff well prepared with knowledgeable questions to ask the Ramseys about their recent polygraph examinations, assuming that is what this appearance will be about? Have you studied the statements their attorney Lin Wood made at the Ramseys' invitation-only press conference last week to "announce" the results of the last series they took? Are you aware that Mr. Wood told the hand-picked press that the Ramseys had not taken any polygraph tests (and didn't even know what they were or how they worked) when they stated on national television that would be willing to? Are you also aware that the first tests were administered April 17-18 and the Ramseys' last national TV appearance (on CNN) was on April 28, when Patsy Ramsey stated twice that they "were looking forward to taking the tests," when in fact they had taken them 10 days before? Aren't you afraid that someday some citizens are going to hold you accountable for allowing this couple to use and abuse the public airwaves with their propaganda? It's not like you are a tabloid newspaper, you are one of the top 3 networks in the world and I am just appalled that this is allowed to go on. Giving them 5 minutes is just handing them $250,000 to burn. Think how far that would go to help other abused and missing children and their loved ones, who are still in a position to be helped. Do you truly believe that Jon Benet's killer will be found, thanks to these appearances? This is my first-ever letter on this subject and I thank you in advance for reading and considering it, if you so choose.
