"Ramseys are Intimidated by S. Thomas and Afraid to Sue" Posted by CommonSense on 07:20:12 6/13/2000 Well, once again . . . the Ramseys are all jabber, rant and rave. While they have the "courage" to file lawsuits while hiding behind the tiny knickers of Burke, they sure haven't filed any lawsuits regarding the many, many, many well-published reports of their own involvement in this crime. What more would Steve Thomas have to do to get sued? He looked straight in Patsy's eyes on Larry King Live and told thousands of viewers that Patsy is the killer of her own child. If she and John were truly innocent of this crime they would have filed suit the next day. Yep, they are intimidated by Steve Thomas and are afraid to sue him. Hence, I think we have a couple of chicken ordures. (Patsy - you're such a wonderful journalist, and novelist. As the spinner of one of the best yarns that we've all read in years, of course, I refer to the ransom saga, I'm sure that your thesaurus is always close - just like your baby was the night of her death.) Patsy and John either sue Steve Thomas now or get out of our faces. Don't worry Patsy, you'll get the spotlight again when your wish of being arrested comes true. By the way, are you wishing on a star every night for your immediate arrest? Oh, we hope so. May all of your public wishes come true. Now they gotta figure out how to do a risk-free lawsuit. Not gonna be QUITE so easy. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 2. "Lin Wood - LKL" Posted by v_p on 08:22:02 6/13/2000 "I am confident that at some point in time, particularly when it comes time to file cases for John and Patsy, that there will be someone out there that will say, 'Let's go all the way.' And that will be the opportunity, in a civil trial setting, for John and Patsy to, in a court of law have an opportunity to clear their name." ~*~*~*~ Pssssssst Lin - when 'they' offer a settlement, JUST SAY NO!!! "If it would clear their names - they would file . . . laches" Posted by CommonSense on 08:37:29 6/13/2000 The legal doctrine of laches is based on the maxim that equity will help those who do not "sit on their rights." If the neglect or omission to assert a right is taken in conjunction with the lapse of time and other circumstances permitting diligence, then a party can be barred from asserting an equitable claim or right. In other words - Ramseys - use it or lose it. Put up or shut up. Ramseys, you know that a lawsuit would not clear your name it would just further O.J. your name. Of course, if the Rams sue for their own damages, they run the clear risk of being deposed under oath. I think at one point Thomas said he looked forward to that. Not that I feel that being under oath would make a difference one way or the other to them. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 5. "Lying Under Oath" Posted by HARLEY on 09:11:09 6/13/2000 for sure would not bother them. If you can commit murder (which IMO one of them did) then lying under oath is nothing. But in a deposition John would not be able to answer for Patsy. Also in a deposition flinging your arms and rolling your eyes would not constitute an answer, which it does for Patsy. My question is, does anyone think they have any qualms about civil litigation when they are not sure who is going to be DA next year? If we follow this to what should be a natural conclusion, the next DA will add up all the inconsistencies and lies and realize he has enough to indict. The little bit I know about public relations is this--even top notch public relation efforts will not change anyone's mind--all it is designed to do is reinforce existing opinions. Therefore, they cannot "uncontaminate" an existing jury pool, no matter how many appearances they have on tv. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 20. "Yes, a new DA is the answer" Posted by Jeanilou on 21:52:40 6/13/2000 If we follow this >to what should be a natural >conclusion, the next DA will add >up all the inconsistencies and lies >and realize he has enough to >indict. That is the one thing I do pray for. A new DA that will take all the evidence and pursue an indictment in this case. And I sure hope he looks into those who have obstructed justice in this case. If he does, then the Ramseys will have a lot of company in jail. I think that not only have the Ramseys covered up, I think others have covered up for the Ramseys. Just like she did when ST said "Patsy, you're good for this". That was priceless. If you think that was something to see, wait until she can't charm the likes of a good attorney in a civil trial. Patsy only breaks down when she finds her charm dosen't work. That is when you'll hear her saying "I'm melting, I'm melting" like the witch on The Wizard Of Oz. "I've been reading an interesting book" Posted by fiddler on 16:02:39 6/13/2000 called "The Bewitching of Anne Gunter". It's a true story of a seventeenth-century witch trial. This guy, Brian Gunter, was the richest man in the English village of North Moreton. Along the way, he made some enemies--so, one day, his daughter Anne starts rolling around, screaming, rolling eyes, "vomiting" pins, etc. etc. Guess who did it? Of course--his two enemies were WITCHES!!! And he took them to court to prove it. Problem was, no one believed him, and the two witches were found not guilty, with the accompanying gossip about and ridicule of the Gunters. Well, at that point, Brian Gunter was pissed. He was the RICHEST MAN IN THE VILLAGE, and he couldn't get the courts to do what he wanted!! So he decided to take the case to the King himself, James I. He wanted his revenge, and he wanted his reputation back. And he was prepared to do whatever it took to accomplish this. And that's when the s*** really hit the fan for Brian Gunter and his family.......read the book, if you're interested at all. It's fascinating. I'm thinking I should send a copy to Lin Wood with a note saying that those who forget history are doomed to repeat it....ya think? Posted by fiddler on 16:26:28 6/13/2000 Apparently, vomiting pins and pieces of glass--and passing them in your urine-- was a popular way of proving someone had put a spell on you. Of course, sleight of hand was the most likely explanation, then as now... Fascinating, though. I wonder if there's some kind of genetic memory or psychological archetype functioning there. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 17. "Are they that stupid?" Posted by Cutter on 17:54:02 6/13/2000 Is John Ramsey that arrogant and Lin Wood that stupid that they don't realize that suing Steve Thomas would amount to nothing less than putting Patsy on trial for JonBenet's murder? Maybe someone should remind them that OJ got his clock cleaned in civil court, and the chances are extremely high that a civil jury is likely to brush off their Team Ramsey crap in the same way. Not only would Thomas and his lawyers get to depose John and Pats, but each of them would be put on the stand where they would be fair game for Thomas' lawyers to rip to shreds. In the recent interviews after the release of DOI, the Patsy has been able to hide behind her "stupid" act, and John has been able to brush off important questions with his typical company management double-talk. Neither will be able to play that game in a courtroom. A good lawyer will make it obvious to a jury that they are not only playing games, but attempting to hide the truth. A jury won't swallow the Ramsey's standard answer of "not that I recollect". Trying to hid behind a selective memory in a courtroom only makes you look guilty. There is also the situation that if the Ramseys attempt to present their ridiculous intruder theory it may open up all the Team Ramsey files for inspection by Team Thomas. Bring in ALL the evidence, lay it out on the table, and see exactly who a jury sees as being deceptive. I've got my fingers crossed they are stupid enough to file that suit! "Steve's day in court" Posted by Jeanilou on 22:03:25 6/13/2000 NOTE: This message was last edited 22:03:25, 6/13/2000 >Is John Ramsey that arrogant and Lin >Wood that stupid that they don't >realize that suing Steve Thomas would >amount to nothing less than putting >Patsy on trial for JonBenet's murder? > A jury won't swallow >the Ramsey's standard answer of "not >that I recollect". Trying to >hid behind a selective memory in >a courtroom only makes you look >guilty. Edited to add that maybe Patsy has started to realize that suing Steve will not benefit her. She essentially talked herself out of a lawsuit when said something about Steve not being at fault. I will have to trot over to the transcript to read what exactly she said, but I know you know what I mean. Yes, I think Steve also knows that suing him would essentially put Patsy on trial. I think that is why he says was looking forward to spending time with Team Ramsey. I think he knows this might be the only way the Ramseys will ever see the inside of a courtroom. I can't wait for the day when they have to REALLY answer questions in front of a jury. And I sure hope Daniel Petrocelli represents Steve. And not only does not recollecting make you look guilty in court, it also makes you look guilty to the public too. "Correct me if I'm wrong" Posted by v_p on 17:58:23 6/13/2000 But isn't Lin Wood's claim to fame the Richard Jewell lawsuits? Wasn't it a given that Richard Jewell was innocent once Lin Wood came into the picture? What I'm trying to say is, by the time Lin Wood got Jewell as a client, everyone knew he was innocent. It's not the same with the Ramseys seeing as how Lin Wood is the only one who thinks the Rams are innocent. V. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 19. "Suing ST" Posted by ace21214 on 18:39:38 6/13/2000 The more I think about it, the more convinced I am that Haddon & company are out of the picture. There is no way that any criminal defense attorney would allow their clients, who have not had a criminal trial, to sue the people accusing them of the crime. However, I definitely think that Lin Wood will in fact sue ST on the Rams' behalf. I don't happen to think he's that smart. He's full of hot air and threats and (like the Rams) he loves the sound of his own voice. He's nothing but a semi-famous ambulance chaser who's using this case to make a name for himself. His latest threat had something to do with "spending quality time" with ST. Truthfully, the best thing that can happen is that they sue ST because then it's over for them. The whole world will know for sure what we already know and criminal charges will be filed. I just hope ST gets the best effin' lawyer in the world!
