"My experience and thoughts at 755 15th St" Posted by sabrina on 06:05:42 6/28/2000 NOTE: This message was last edited 06:05:42, 6/28/2000 Just returned last night from a trip to Colorado. We went to Boulder on Monday and visited the former Ramsey home. My friend and I walked to the rear of the house from the side yard. About halfway back I looked to my left and noticed a young doe about 8 feet from me. At first I thought it was a statue. When I realized it was a live animal,I said to my friend, "look! A deer". I guess I startled her, and she ran off. My friend felt that the spirit of JonBenet was visiting us in this young deer. I have since found out that it is common for deer to visit yards in Boulder! NEWS: There were several "For Sale" signs in the neighborhood, including the corner house 2 or 3 houses down.( it had some childrens's toys in the backyard) There was no realtor or for sale sign outside the Ramsey house. There were 2 padlocks on the infamous window grate, they looked like luggage padlocks. Here is a picture, you can see one of the locks on the right of the grate. http://www.geocities.com/sabra320/ramseywindow.jpg I think if anyone ever entered the house through this window they were a gymnist. They also had to be very small. MY IMPRESSIONS: The neighborhood was not as exclusive as I had imagined, the houses were also much closer together than I expected. The Ramsey house is only 3 or 4 houses down 15th St from the main through street. I expected a neighborhood of estates, this was not the case and there were several small and ordinary houses close by. Both Patsy's interior decorator and architect should lose their licenses for malpractice! The striped wallpaper was just too much, and hardly fits in with the style of the house. (pink or salmon and white in the entrance way-- and black and white in what I think was maybe the breakfast room? Wide jail-like stripes! UGH!)The house is vacant and it was easy to peer in the windows. The spiral staircase was easily visable. The kitchen has a red and white valance, I thought maybe it was an oriental type dragon print, my friend thought maybe ribbons. Anyone know what it is? The addition on the back and side didn't even follow the style of the house. I don't know why it wasn't made to blend in. It looked Spanish style to me and the house is a tudor. If brick couldn't match, at least color the stucco darker so it would blend in.I have to say, it looked rediculous. Here is a picture of Jon Benet's balcony. http://www.geocities.com/sabra320/ramseyback.jpg The back garage pretty much ends at the narrow alley in the back. The only real yard area is on the side and near the area where the balcony is. I guess I thought the yard would have been larger. There were some beautiful evergreens in the yard. Two other cars of lookie loos came by, driving really slowly to look while we were there, but noone got out. We got a dirty look from the mail carrier but he didn't say anything to us. The yard looked well taken care of, and we noticed one lone sweet pea in the back, other than that, there were no other flowers in the yard. I loved Pearl Street Mall. I also got the impression most Boulderites are earthy,new-age and fitness and health oriented. I do not see Patsy fitting in here with her style. We did not see any of the books on the case prominantly displayed in the local bookstores. Had lunch at a wonderful restaurant called Antica Roma. I highly recommend it! I'm having my last fix on the computer before we head out the door this morning for our big trip. I'm glad I got to read your impressions of the house. And that picture! Like you, it's hard for me to believe that some architect actually agreed to do that project in such a garish, non-matching fashion. I'll be in touch with you when I return. Sooooo, did the Rs ever spring to have the infamous window repaired? In DOI, the Rs said that, when they were considering buying the house, they saw a deer in the yard. (They are both big on interpreting circumstance as signs.) And so, that vision sold them on it. They said: "the buck stops here." So go figure. (we didn;t speak about this until after we left)Maybe someone can check it out. I wondered if John said he entered the house from the window, or he just broke it trying to get in. I see in PMPT, Schiller said John says he entered. I don't know if this is accurate. John must be a very small man to have been able to enter through this window well. "The buck stops here." I didn't know about that. Sounds like the same person who would say "Grow a brain" doesn't it? [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 4. "Sabrina" Posted by Luvsa Mystery on 08:38:16 6/28/2000 JR is, I've read, a small man. You made an interesting observation. I don't recall JR saying he did enter the home through that window . . . but, rather as you said, he claims he broke it "TRYING to get in." LHP said the door from the house into the attached garage was never locked UNLESS Nedra was there, and so, JR didn't need a key to enter the house, just his garage opener. "Sabrina the Daring (( * ))" Posted by sarah on 10:32:33 6/28/2000 Gee Sabrina, thanks for the grate pictures...chortle, chortle. Now pray, how was an intruder supposed to get inside JB's room from her window, as has been so often . argued by some pro-Rammers?? Was their intruder Spider Man too?? Houses so close together, huh? ..This was one daring intruder PERV! And such stealth- why nobody heard 'em, not even a dog, and nobody saw him or his little get-away bike. Wow. I'm not often impressed, but THIS little wisp of a -pedophile-intruder-perv.-killa is one class act, you've got to admit! ..And such a tidy one, at that. Here we have a brutal murder committed inside a house occupied by 2 parents and one child.. This is not a mystery. You want a mystery? Watch Poirot on television...Alex, if you can't figure out who killed this child; if you don't have the stones to take this one to trial, then shame on you - you're a disgrace to your profession and to the citizens of Boulder. Posted by Holly on 14:36:55 6/28/2000 NOTE: This message was last edited 14:36:55, 6/28/2000 My observations exactly. It's strikingly different then the way tv presents it. The house is as ugly as any house I have ever seen. More important, an intruder with the idea of humping down the street with a bright white, blanket swaddled victim on Christmas night, is just plain goofy. Parking on 15th St is risky. A citation could be issued and clue police to your presence that night -- that's what tripped up Son of Sam. John is short -- about 5'-6", I think. I'm not sure the neighbor actually heard a "bloodcurdling" scream. Did you see her house and the Barnhill's cute home? Yes, I also saw the garish wallpaper and valances. There is also an ENORMOUS chandeleir at the entrance that seems overstated - what a surprise. Thanks for the pictures. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 7. "if JR squeezed his fat gut" Posted by Edie Pratt on 11:23:53 6/28/2000 thru that window, I'm afraid he would have met his Waterloo, then and there. Thanks for the report, Sabrina. I love that you had a deer for a "tourguide", how beautiful:-) [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 8. "Clarification" Posted by sabrina on 14:19:02 6/28/2000 Just spoke to my friend, she said I was wrong concerning the window, what she said was the window looked newly fixed...not cracked. It's not so much the height of the person having to be small to fit in the window well, it's the width too. I don't see a grown man being able to fit in there unless he had a severe case of anorexia. My guess is John went downstairs and broke the window that morning to be able to point out a possible point of entry for the "intruder". The parking situation definately would be difficult!! I didn't really pay attention to whose house was the Stantons, etc. So Holly, what were those red sqiggly things on the kitchen valance anyway? Dragons? Ribbons? Snakes? Posted by Holly on 14:39:35 6/28/2000 I saw the prison stripes and I think the Oriental print is one of those red Waverly patterns with pheasants and fruit. "I always thought" Posted by Ribaldone on 18:13:53 6/28/2000 NOTE: This message was last edited 18:13:53, 6/28/2000 the back of the house was butt-ugly and tacky tacky tacky. What kind of cheap-ass architect would design the back of the house in a different style than the front? But, doesn't it just fit Patsy? Just like the inside of the house -- the front "public" rooms were showcase perfect (for Patsy) and the back of the house was a pigstye. Also mirros their lives -- on the outside they appeared the be the perfect family, but inside it was dark, abusive and horrifying (at least for JonBenet). Posted by sabrina on 21:18:32 6/28/2000 Here's the one we all know!!http://www.geocities.com/sabra320/ramsey2.jpg Chart, yes this is with a digital camera, a Kodak. The software lets you "enhance" it. I use the camera for my Ebay pictures, and it was one of the least expensive models but seems to take better pictures than the expensive cameras. It has to be the camera as I don't know a thing about photography! [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 14. "Sabrina" Posted by Gemini on 21:29:22 6/28/2000 These really are excellent pictures. Thanks a bunch. Does anyone (of you who have checked out the house in the past) know whether this is the same grate that was over the window at the time of the murder? Something isn't registering just right to me. Could this grate be a recent addition? [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ]
