"johnnyram took a rope" Posted by Greenleaf on 18:20:11 6/29/2000 Johnnyram took a rope And tied it 'round his baby's throat Not so sure that she was dead He whacked her once o'er the head He called upon the weeping mother To bath and dress, and then to cover Their limp, rag doll, lifeless child Who never again would laugh or smile Johnnyram took a pad And helped write the note to dear old Dad "We have your daughter," is the way it read "Talk to a stray dog, and she'll be dead" He greeted the cop at the door In the cordial mood of a first class bore Nary a tear in his cold, cruel eyes Nor was he shaken or looked surprised Johnnyram took a drink After washing his hands in the basement sink Nothing to do but pace and wait While his murdered child laid near the grate Oh, what to do? What to do? (No call was meant to ever come through) The female cop checked her gun As angry, dark clouds hid the sun Johnnyram took his feet And made a bee-line to the street Odd, but true, this gruesome tale He just had to get and read his mail All the while the people there Were biting their nails and pulling their hair But Johnnyram was cordial and cool Sipping his drink and playing the fool Johnnyram ignored the order To start the search at the top of the border He ran down the stairs, through the dark aisle Straight to the room, where lay his dead child He carried her upstairs, like a piece of old wood He was playing his part the best he could From cordial to weepy, he changed in a flash And dismissed all questions which were asked Johnnyram took the phone Into the Den, where he thought he was alone He was making haste to get out of town But the cop who heard him put the phone down He was not mad, nor did he cry He cared not for the who; just for the why He seemed not to hear his wife's loud wail His only concern was staying out of jail Johnnyram wrote a book With hopes of getting off the hook The public read it and really got mad They didn't care much for the killing Dad He once led a rich, up-scaled life Now he points fingers at his wife They both have lied, and they know why Their darling daughter had to die Johnnyram might take a rope And place it 'round his age-spot throat If he's stilled beneath the tree Bells will chime for JohnnyB by Greenleaf (copyrighted) June 29, 2000 [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 1. "Gemini" Posted by Greenleaf on 00:48:30 6/30/2000 I got up in the middle of the night and decided to write Chris and ask her to delete my johnnyram poem. Then, I read your post. Where ever did you get the idea this was a tribute to jonbenet? It was meant to be harsh, bold and chilling. Excuse me, Gem, but that's what jonbenet's murder was; cold and cruel and heartless. It was not pretty. Her lips were blue; her body was stiff; her neck was chocked; her skull was fractured. My God! I was not trying to write a sweet ballad. How cruel of you, Gem, to suggest I was having fun. I was (and am) ANGRY! All people should feel ANGRY that this not only happened, but there has been no justice. All roads, imho, lead to the rams. You have inspired me to write another poem, which I'll post next. In the meantime, Gem, your place up on your high fence does not afford you the clear view we have here, on the ground. This case will never end, unless and until an arrest or arrests are made. Yes, jonbenet departed this world in the most gruesome way imaginable. It should never be sugar coated. She was strangled to death, beat over the head and sexually abused. My God! It can't get much worse than that. I do apologize to any and all I may have offended with my poems. That certainly wasn't my intent; However, we need (imho) some mechanism to keep this gruesome picture of her murder before the public. She was murdered in her own home on Christmas night. She didn't just die, and it certainly wasn't "an event." It was child abuse and murder; felony one murder. May this special child (and all murdered children everywhere) rest in peace and may their murderers be brought to justice. Amen. I just get so mad that I really show my emotions about this case. I can only imagine the pain that JonBenet suffered. Think about how deep the furrows were in her neck! Someone choked the life out of that poor baby! And fractured her skull 8 1/2 inches! Come on! That was brutal savagery! Nothing anyone can say after the fact can even TOUCH that! If that poem chills to the bone then it should! That is nothing compared to the cold, lifeless hell she lay in as her parents scurried about 1 floor above her, plotting and scheming to detract from the truth of her murder! Sometimes the case seems to drift into a "case" of details and we too often get bogged down in the minutiae of who did what when and how. The fact remains, this was a little girl abused for 6 years and bludgeoned to death, strangled by someone she loved and depended upon for the life that person took away from her. "Greenleaf!" Posted by mary99 on 05:14:07 6/30/2000 What talent! It's a great piece of writing and it comes from the heart. Reminds me of the rhymed verse Oscar Wilde wrote after being released from prison-his last literary effort was tragic and utterly real. The tragedy of JonBenet's murder is not diminished by your poetry. It's the circumstances of the murder itself and the Ramseys subsequent behavior, which you effectively described, that may cause our distress. Please don't regret writing it or posting it. Personally, I find the continous use of 'beaten and strangled' in numerous accounts of JB's murder to be irreverent. Let's not lose sight of the fact that it was much more gruesome than that, and to gloss over it is to lose sight of the true nature of the murderer. It's an ad hominem attack, a self-serving ploy, nothing more. But, the true evil of JonBenet's murder does not make the content of this origin post right. "Forgive me" Posted by Edie Pratt on 15:36:19 6/30/2000 but Nikki, you seem to be looking for an argument from me. I did NOT say yours and Greenleaf's writing was the same. All I said is that you both have a right to write. If you're insulted because I didn't decipher between poetry and prose, I'm sorry. I was only using you as an example of creative expression. Should have specified. And, for your information, I happen to love your poetry, have never slammed it, nor asked that you stop. I only wanted to make the point to Ms.Gemini, that everyone here has their own way/form of expression. Peace? [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 35. May God bless all the abused and murdered children everywhere, and may all those who have harmed our little children be punished. Peace and love, Greenleaf . .
