"Askme.com" Posted by sabrina on 21:41:19 7/09/2000 NOTE: This message was last edited 21:41:19, 7/09/2000 Just found this website. There are some Ramsey questions and answers with experts. (hehe I asked some today) Here is an excellent response from a prosecutor with 12 years experience. What is your opinion of the Ramsey case? Do you think there will ever be an indictment? xxxxxxx gave this response on 7/9/2000: When the Ramsey case occurred, I was having lunch with a group of fellow prosecutors. One joked that he knew the parents did it because the note said "please return my daughter-oops, I mean JonBenet." Many of my homicide detective friends watched the parents on TV and believed they were guilty from the way they came across, just as they had immediately pegged Susan Smith as the killer of her children when she was imploring people to help find their kidnapper. I have read all books and articles on the subject and followed the case closely. I am in agreement with Detective Steve Thomas in his book "JonBenet." JonBenet was six years old, but still wetting and defecating in her bed. It is Det. Thomas's belief, and the evidence supports this theory, that Patsy was changing JonBenet's clothes and cracked her head in the bathroom on a hard surface. This was possible cause of death #1. JonBenet had duct tape placed over her mouth with a perfect lip impression. She was not moving. 4 fibers from Patsy's jacket were recovered from the tape. A broken paintbrush from Patsy's art supplies was used to twist a wire garrote around JonBenet's neck (possible cause of death #2) A splinter from the paintbrush was inserted in the child's vagina. Experts felt there had possible been ongoing non-sexual abuse, more like disciplinary abuse, of the vagina. The first detectives to arrive on the scene did not secure the house and mucked up the crime scene's evidence. Parents were allowed to walk around in the house and John "found" JonBenet, carrying her away from his body and up the stairs where both parents threw themselves onto her body, causing possible fiber contamination. After doing tests, it was determined that John could not see JonBenet from the position he was in when he cried "There she is!" It is thought he discovered her earlier, during the time they were waiting for the kidnappers to call, and made his choice then to protect Patsy. They have never cooperated with police, demanding ridiculous conditions before interviews and the current passing of the lie detector test by a tester of their choosing is worthless. OJ could probably pass a lie detector test now. This leaves us with the best piece of evidence: The "War and Peace" ransom note. The top expert in handwriting in this country pegged Patsy as the sol author. He originally sent the Ramsey's a letter stating he believed they were innocent, but changed his mind after examining the note. Killers and kidnappers do not operate in a manner such as this. They write brief notes. If they kill, they don't hide the body with her favorite nightie and toy next to it. They would've displayed her under the Christmas tree. Those who espouse the "intruder theory" have scant logical evidence to present. They just don't want to believe parents kill their children- they do, and every day. My husband, who is also a prosecutor, and I believe that they should indict and charge Patsy and see what happens from there. We would go to trial on what they have. The Boulder DA and PD did not take aggressive and necessary action. They didn't get essential phone records or wiretap the Ramsey house to gain more evidence. They blew a lot of things. The Grand Jury was only presented with evidence from a DA investigator who believes an intruder killed JonBenet. What good was that? I feel very strongly about this case and hope someone has the guts to do the right thing. Whether that will occur at this time seems unlikely. Edited to add you can get opinions on just about everything from this site from "experts"!! I just spent 3 hours looking at it. Well worth it. I'm just going to copy and past a post I made on another forum last night concerning the garotte business here: The rope used to strangle JonBenet was NOT an actual garrotte. Take the definition of garrotte from the dictionary of difficult words --- v.t. strangle; execute by strangling: n. killing by strangling. The media picked up on the term garrotte and it spread like wildfire. It would be correct to say that JonBenet was garrotted to death, but a garrotte wasn't used to strangle her. Take a look at the information on this web page to see an actual garrotte and I think you may understand the meaning of the word and it's origin. http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/6142/garrotte.html [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 4. "Definition of garrote from Gurunet.com" Posted by Dunvegan on 13:07:33 7/09/2000 garˇrote or garˇrotte (g?-rot', -rot') n. 1.A method of execution formerly practiced in Spain, in which a tightened iron collar is used to strangle or break the neck of a condemned person. The iron collar used for such an execution. 2.Strangulation, especially in order to rob. 3.A cord or wire used for strangling. Until researching this case, I had only heard of the wire or cord garrote...the traditional Spanish chair garrote was a new one on me. "jameson245's AskMe.com Bio" Posted by Dunvegan on 09:06:34 7/10/2000 jameson245 My Crime Expertise: I maintain the largest on-line area dedicated to the JonBenét Ramsey murder investigation. I document it with a TimeLine and moderate a forum on the subject. I have been involved with part of the investigation, have gone on TV to discredit a persecution (oops, prosecution) witness. I am in three of the books on the subject - the Schiller book, the Ramsey book and the Thomas book. I have met the Ramseys and others involved. Basically, I know as much as any outsider can know and hope to share the truth." Usually what a person chooses to put in their bio is very telling...seems that interjecting hirself into the case and 15 minutes of TV face-time and book mention are the holy grail to Jams. I notice jameson neglects to note that the person she is so intent on discrediting, that would be Foster, of course, has never been wrong in over 150 cases of deciphering who wrote documents, books, etc. (this, according to Steve Thomas's book). "Anderson--you're right, it wasn't" Posted by fiddler on 16:39:51 7/10/2000 a garrotte. It was a huge knot, at the end of a cord, tied around a stick. There was no way, other than yanking on it, that the stick could have been "turned" to put pressure on the part of the cord that was around JBR's neck. Anyone who wants to look at the photos and do the "cord-length math" will see this. Well, hey, it LOOKED LIKE A GARROTTE TO ME....uh, kidnapping, that is..... And, I can't remember if anyone's ever mentioned this, but how would a sick-puppy stranger intruder even KNOW which her favorite nightgown and blanket were? Those items don't usually come up in the average kidnapping situation, do they? [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 16.
