It has to be the goofiest cut I've ever gotten...about 1" on top and the rest past my shoulders. Guess I could wear a hat! Jelly, I hope you're feeling better today. How did the pea soup turn out? Regarding hair, a strange thing happened to me about three months ago. I got my hair cut and every day I woke up and looked in the mirror and it looked like a million bucks. I could go to bed with it looking a mess, after having gardened all day or evening, but I would wake up and it looked great. I never had to do anything to it, either. Just wash it and it came out fantastic. I thought I had entered the twilight zone of hair. This went on for some time until I got my next cut. I asked my stylist what she did and she told me she used a new technique (what the name is, I forgot). Anyway, she repeated her spectacular performance on this last cut and I am wondering (praying!) if this can go on forever. For whatever it's worth, I have never been happy with my hair. This is the first time in four decades; but then I am a Leo and Leos are never happy with their manes. I guess I should get lucky sometime, hmm? "Afternoon" Posted by Anderson on 10:57:54 7/24/2000 Cher, I've been wondering about Country Girl myself. And what's became of Slinky? I miss "seeing" them here. Saturday afternoon I went to the post office to mail off some schedules for my job and a couple of items I'd sold on eBay. The woman who waited on me seemed to be having a bad day, so I joked around with her a little and tried to cheer her up. When I got home, I took my receipt out of my wallet to place in my stack of expense account slips and notice that she'd not charged me for one of the Priority Mail stamps. My conscious bothered me all day yesterday over that. So, this morning I had more schedules to mail off and headed back to the post office. Luckily, she was working and I wormed my way around to getting in her line. I walked up, leaned over the counter and whispered to her what had happened. She scared the dickens out me when she started shouting "Thank You! Thank You!" It turned out her day had gotten even worse when she closed out her cash and found out she was short $3.20. I had her charge me for it and we're both happy now. I stopped at a store on the way home and bought a scratch off lottery ticket. I'm $100 richer now! I guess good deeds do pay off. Cool:-) One time my ex forgot my birthday. His was exactly 3 wks later, so I didn't have time to forget his slight. I went out and bought a lottery scratch ticket and presented it in my best Bette Davis "Here's your crummy birthday present" personae. He scratched and won $2. Soooo, he walked down to the liquor store and cashed the ticket in for $1 and another ticket. Would you believe? $100! Served me right for being so mean, huh? Be it good or bad. Honestly, I was worried that it was my fault she hadn't charged me, since I was talking to her while she was trying to work. BTW, is anyone else here following "Survivor"? I confess I've gotten addicted to it. Now that the end is getting closer, it's more interesting. Week before last, I sat and sniffled when Gretchen was voted off the island and last week I was really torn up over Kelly not receiving the video of her kids. That was rough. I read a story in the news that her mom had taken her twins on a vacation and didn't return in time to get the tape made. All the hubbub over the web site business has me in a tizzy too. He has a Chinese name Xia Tian pronounced Shay Te En and he is learning the language from someone named Jenny and sounds really happy. This has greatly put my mind at rest. My Mom and I went shopping yesterday afternoon. We were walking around the store and I heard a frantic little voice saying, "Mom? Mom? Mommy where are you?" I went over to him and asked him if he had lost his mom. He nodded his head. I asked him if he wanted me to help him find her and he shook his head, "no" and scampered off. I looked at my mom and I said, "I just can't let him go like this." and off I trotted after him. I got to the front of the store as he was charging through the check-out lanes looking for his mom. It was a no-go so the little guy went outside the store, looked both ways before he crossed and ran out to his mom's car. At this point, several people walking into the store were also alarmed. Screw it, I thought and I went out to his mom's car. I asked him if he wanted to come back in the store with me to find his mom. He shook his head. Then I said, do you think your mom will worry if she can't find you? He nodded. I said, how about if I just walk back in with you and we'll wait for her by the door. He must have thought that was acceptable because he went with me back into the store. By then his mom had finally come looking for him and was standing by my mom in the store when we walked back in. She dismissed me with a quick thank you and proceeded to scold Derek for wandering off. I'm always unsure of what to do when I see a lost little kid. You know, we tell our kids don't talk to strangers and yet when we try to step in to help someone in a situation like this, we're strangers. I had a woman come in one day and order a chicken sandwich. She paid with a twenty, and then started asking questions about where the closest hospital was. I gave her directions and she kept on and on. Finally she raised her hands and said, "Oh, I gave you a twenty." While she was chatting me up with the hospital directions, she had switched the ten that I'd given her with a dollar bill. Ha! Her big mistake there was that the dollar bill was turned around backwards from the other bills. I just opened up my drawer and said, "Yes mam, and I gave you the correct change. You see, all my bills are faced the same way." She left in such a hurry that she forgot her chicken sandwich. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 24. Posted by Country Girl on 13:40:13 7/24/2000 Life has been quite hectic for me. As you know, I resigned my job after 19 1/2 years and the Co. went balistic! I went down to LA last week and worked on brochures, etc. Got a new account first thing!! LOL! I had called a former client the day before when I arrived and his secretary said he'd have to call me back. Ms negative (me!) thought RIGHT! Well, he called me back the next morning and I had just gotten out of the shower. I'm on the phone dripping water wearing nothing but a towel and told him that Annie & I had started our own company, etc. He gave me his business! I've decided to only pitch accounts while wet and naked in the future! ROFL! Friday as I was on my way to a meeting, my oldest daughter (who is 7 months pregnant) got into an automobile accident. Grandson was with her. She had just left her prenatal appointment. Some young guy pulled into her lane and stopped. She hit the brakes but slid into him head-on. Thank God he stopped. Nobody knows what he was doing but she did have a witness and got all the info. She said they were fine but by the time I got to her apartment, she was having pain. Grandson was just fine but daughter was having contractions. She spent the night in the hospital with them monitoring her. They gave her a shot and an iv and the labor stopped. She is going to her OB/GYN for a follow-up this afternoon. There was nothing they could do for her whiplash other than Tylenol. My youngest daughter, her husband & his sister are coming tomorrow for awhile. Since this is hubby's only time off between teaching summer school and school starting in August, we are taking the kids and the boat to the Colorado River. We're spending Wednesday night at Buffalo Bill's in Primm (Stateline)and then to Cottonwood Cove on the river. I need the R&R. I have been busy today contacting people and letting them know what I'm doing...getting all my bookmarks on my new Dell Dimension PC down here in the office...putting in all my email addresses. Starry...yes, I found I could print my address book on my home pc. Yes! Can't read my own writing anymore so that's good. LOL! I have found that scattering Sharon's ashes did bring some closure for me. I miss her terribly and I feel she is always with me.
