"Yikes!" Posted by Pretzel on 22:19:48 7/24/2000 I've never been the first! Couldn't sleep...had to go to Quickcare tonight. Thought I had gotten "swacked" with a bug but it turned out to be more serious. I was diagnosed with Pyleo(?)Nephritis. At any rate, they are "smacking" it with strong antibiotics, the "orange dye", and a strong painkiller. (The painkiller is having a reverse effect right now...can't sleep...wide awake!) The doc gave me a giant antibiotic shot before I left the office. Can't go to work today, so I will have a "day at home." Have a great day all...and lots of prayers for all that are experiencing painful times. Pretzel [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 2. "Pretzel" Posted by Watching you on 05:14:56 7/25/2000 what is Pyleo Nephritis? Does it have something to do with kidneys? I hope you feel better soon. Hahahahahaha, sparky, beat ya'. Another pea soup morning here in WNY - fog so thick you can cut it with a knife. Can't complain about the temperatures, though, been 75-80 most of the time, cool cool nights. Beats those 90's and 100's y'all are having in the south and west. Guess I'll go see who's whining the loudest this morning. Have a day. Trying to catch up with y'all. CG great to hear from you and happy that most things are okay to great. Starry didn't know the job was so likely to come through. Guess I better make a bigger effort to hit the road soon or I'll miss more opportunities to hook up with some of my favorite posters. JJ,GL & all other Columbo posters- those were the best yet. Maybe Chris ought to see about selling the scripts to SNL or Jay Leno Players for big bucks :) Cloudy today here. I didn't want to tell my sister who is driving down from Boston because she might change her mind. She is probably lost in NYC right about now. Most of my relatives think RI or NH is the very edge of the earth. Gotta go prayers for all in need. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 4. She didn't know. yep. EX. It's done. It's funny. It was a couple of days after the get together. I have been told at my job that I was going to get more responsibility, (get to travel and interact with our customers on a high level, etc.) and he didn't like that. He also thought I should make him a first priority on the weekends instead of going out and having fun (i.e., sit in front of the computer and email back and forth to entertain him while he is out on the ship). So it got to the point where I realized that we are at two totally different stages in our lives. He wants a wife, a housewife. Posted by Voyager on 08:18:14 7/25/2000 The Quail family has decided to stay with us (no not Dan, you sillies!)....remember a few days ago, I told you about the Quail family (the birds, doncha know!)who have taken up residence in the large wysteria under the two maple trees in the corner of our back yard. Mr. V. and I worked outdoors all weekend, and observed them making themselves at home here...we put screens and planks up to the wall in case they wanted to take the nine babies back over to the wilderness, but they seem to have found everything they need with food, water, and safety here on the Voyager property. We are training Leo, our male Schnauzer to leave them alone, and the whole neighborhood is peeking over the wall to enjoy our little guests. Ironically, our daughter and her fiance had chosen that very corner of the yard as the focus of the garden wedding and will take their vows right on that spot....so instead of having swans in the Voyager garden (remember father of the bride?) we will have quail! Lots of them! More good news! Mr. Voyager and I went over to the balloon manufacturer/distributor yesterday, as he had called us about a "real deal" (balloon for sale), on an almost new balloon, which is in brand new condition which the owner was selling cause he just bought another new one. Well, we are now hot air balloon owners! Mr. V. for those of you who don't know has been taking lessons and has passed his FAA exam, done his solo, now only needs to pass his FAA check ride in the air to get his licience. Will try to get Mr. V. to help me post pictures of it sometime this week...The envelope is so bright and pretty! It is in Denver Bronco colors. Orange background with cobalt blue at the very top, and cobalt blue skirt (fabric right above the basket) and little cobalt blue flags fluttering all around the middle. Wouldn't our most famous Bronco fan, Panico, just go nuts over this! She was planning to come down and go ballooning with us when she was able, so now feel that in spirit, she will be with us. Ok, you guys, you will just never guess what Mr. V. is naming our balloon...he named it right there in the shop, and is having the name embroidered on the skirt! You just must take a guess! Feeling great, and making progress...here is hoping that you are better today Pretzel, and ericasf, what have I missed about you while I was away, are you OK? Have a good and healthy day everyone! Posted by 7kluz on 08:00:12 7/25/2000 ...no post. I just wanted to say "hi" to you guys...that is, if anyone remembers me. I have been very upset and depressed, as I had a miscarriage at 10 weeks. I was devastated and so down in the dumps for awhile that I had practically isolated myself. Although we hadn't planned the pregnancy, and it had been a difficult one from the beginning, we had become very excited about it and had even picked out names. It has been a very sad time for my family and me. We now have accepted it, however, as being God's will and know that He must have a reason for it, so we are coping despite the pain of our loss. I am finally beginning to feel like my old self again, but am trying to avoid pregnancy and baby things, as they still make me teary. Hello to All and May God Bless You. And as always...JFJBR! I just don't want to do much at all, except visit the forum, surf the internet, read my books and nap. And of course, eat... Oh what the hey? I deserve a break of this magnitude, right? I finally got my blood results back from the last PCR test. Although the results aren't official yet, (my HepC Dr needs to read them) from what the nurse in my primary care Dr's office can tell...... I'm negative!!!!!!!! Which means the treatment worked! Thank you all, especially Slinky, who wrote me long encouraging e-mails and the insomniacs, too. You helped me through a very rough time last year. Bobby, although the job and move is far from a done deal, things look good for it, when and if they get back to us with a relocation plan. This is a smaller company than where hubby works now and I don't know if they've ever used a relocation service before or not. Last we heard the guy who flew out here from Chicago was trying to be creative in figuring out something and he was going to present it to the CEO. No word from him for past 2 weeks. That could mean the CEO nixxed it.... ??? who knows??? But, that won't change things for me. I'll stay here for a period of time, and still go down to VA to work the outage at Surry. "Good morning" Posted by Greenleaf on 07:59:04 7/25/2000 This is a cat story for Cher, Anderson, and all cat lovers. "One day, a cat dies of natural causes and goes to heaven, where he meets the Lord Himself. The Lord says to the cat, You lived a good life, and if there is any way I can make your stay in heaven more comfortable, please let me know. The cat thinks for a moment and says, Lord, all my life I have lived with a poor family and had to sleep on a hard wooden floor. The Lord stops the cat and a wonderful, fluffy pillow appears. A few days later, six mice are killed in a tragic farming accident, and all of them go to heaven. Again, the Lord is there to greet them with the same offer. The mice answer, All our lives we have been chased. We have had to run from cats, dogs, and even women with brooms. Running, running, running we're tired of running. Do you think we could have roller skates so that we don't haveto run anymore? The Lord says, Say no more and fits each mouse with beautiful new roller skates. About a week later, the Lord stops by to see the cat and finds him snoozing on the pillow. The Lord gently wakes the cat and asks him, How are things since you got here? The cat stretches and yawns, then replies, wonderful here. Better than I could have ever expected. And 'Meals On Wheels' you've been sending by are the best!" Greenleaf [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 17. Posted by Starling on 09:38:23 7/25/2000 I had a great vacation! The first week we stayed at a condo on Myrtle Beach. We lounged by the outdoor pool every day and at night would go out! Fudruckers makes a great hamburger! Planet Hollywood has great appetizers, and in the fog of a Margarita I recall seeing one of Ginger's dresses she wore on Gilligan's Island :-)!! Lonestar makes a tastey 20 oz t-bone and they call their Margarita's "Rawhide Rita." My older sister couldn't play put-put very well afterwards, so she became known as Rawhide Rita, the rest of the trip! Medevial Knights was a fun place for the kids, but you had to eat in the dark with your fingers. I went hoarse screaming for our side which was the blue team. Our knight threw two carnations at our group - my little sister got one and my neice got the other. One of my favorite places to eat was at Dicks!! Their gimmick was to insult you and then they would make these funky hats that resembled condoms, write on them and place them on your head.LOL Me and my sisters all had on short, shorts and knew we were in for a time, when they announced over the P.A. 'Would anyone who is not a hot chick please not wear hot chick clothing! Even though there was over a hundred women in the joint, I felt like shrinking.LOL They proceeded to throw our straws and napkins at us. I was called "dizzy" early on, by our waiter but didn't earn a hat! But alot of our kids did! My 13 year old son was the first one crowned and his hat said "I still wet the bed!" My 9 year old daughter was next - "When I grow up, I'm going to make some man's life a living hell!"LOL My neice who is 13 - "I have an I.Q. of 4." My nephew who is 18 and thinks he is the hottest stud around - "Virgin 4 Life." And my six year old nephew, who was sitting by Rawhide Rita, his hat appropriately said "This lady is annoying" and an arrow pointed to Rita :-) We had one rainy day, so my brother in law took all the kids to Ripley's Aquarium, while we hit the outlet malls! I had never been to an outlet mall and was amazed at the great prices. If you and your kids wear Tommy and Nike products find your nearest outlet mall for school shopping and you won't regret it:-) We also went to an IMAX theatre - the screen was huge and the movie was digitzied and it was like you were in the movie - even though your seats, floor or walls don't move an inch! I ended up having to shut my eyes though or I was going to barf. Guess I'm a lightweight :-) We took the kids to the Pavillion and they rode rides one night and our last day there, after checking out we went to Myrtle Waves! They had karokee sat up and my little girl sang "Because You Loved Me," my nephew sang "Bye, Bye, Bye" and my neice who has a beautiful voice sang a song I didn't know, by the Dixie Chicks (don't listen to new country) by she did an excellant job! We proceeded to ride rides, that should have never been created on this earth! I tried my hardest to stay in the kiddie pools with my sister's 6 year old, but I did get suckered into this bad boy: "Hold on tight for the ride of your life. Climb 10 stories high to the top of the world's tallest tubular slides, the Turbo Twisters. These three completely enclosed dark tubes will send you spiraling down through the darkness at an exhilarating 50 feet per second." Had I known these were the tallest - I wouldn't have rode it! I thought I was going to die, the whole way down and kept saying over and over "I'm so stupid!"LOL The last part of the ride, the weirdest thing happnes - there is some type of gravatational force that sucks you against the tube and you can't move. Water was spashing in my face and I wanted to breathe but couldn't. It was very freaky and I'm done with water parks - officially! I ended up staying an extra week, at my older sisters home in WVA and had a great time, except for when we went four-wheeling to go blackberry picking and found a huge black snake! That was really gross! I had such a great time that I didn't even think of the JBR case until my second to last day at my sisters a car pulled up in her drive, while we were laying by her pool. It was two young ladies about in their late 20's, who politely asked if they could use some of her flower beds for backdrops for pictures of her 19 month old daughter, who was being entered in the West Virginia State Pageant. Of course my sister said to go ahead. We watched while they propped and posed this tiny, little, curly-headed blonde in various positions. I looked over at my sister and said "That must be Patsy Jr." :-) It's nice to be back. I missed everyone - especially those I'm used to chatting with every night! I really wish something would break in the case, and I'm hopeful this next round of questioning the Ramsey's will go through, will give the BPD the courage to go forth with prosecutions. "Good afternoon" Posted by Mrsrick on 11:20:26 7/25/2000 I took my kitty, snowpuff, to the vet yesterday and dropped her off to get fixed. We pick her up today at 5 and none of us can believe how much we have missed her and her cute little kitty ways. My youngest daughter got her for her 10th birthday in April, and when we got her she was only 5 weeks old. She sleeps outside my bedroom door at night and when the sun comes up she climbs up on my little girls bed and goes back to sleep. When I get up she starts following me around the house. I hope her personality doesn't change because of the surgery. Also, we got a foster son in March that was only suppose to stay with us a few days. :) He is moving this week to his aunts house along with his little brother that is in another foster home. All week I have been packing him up and finding more and more of his "stuff" around the house. He loves us, and we love him and we hate to see him leave, but know he is going to family and will be loved. The little boy we are adopting is doing great. I was out today at Sears and found him some school clothes (yea, school is starting in 5 weeks). 7kluz, I am very sorry for your loss. I have suffered 4 miscarriages and they are emotionally painful. Guys," Posted by LurkerXIV on 14:21:35 7/25/2000 I knew you would take my mind off my predicament. After the gallon of Co-lyte, I have to take a Fleet enema, too. Can't get away from that Fleet fellow, can we? Sailer, Katie Couric just did a series on the procedure. It was quite detailed. The actual colonoscopy is not bad, because they shoot you up with happy juice, and you don't remember a thing. Last time, the doc found and removed three large polyps. My father died of colon cancer, so this is preventive medicine for me. They are recommending this for anyone over 50 who has a family history of colorectal cancer. And it has become routine for folks over 60. So if you've never had one, ask your doctor if you should. The alternative is far, far worse than a minor outpatient surgery.
