"On The Subject Of Newbies" Posted by vikilynp on 15:44:00 7/26/2000 NOTE: This message was last edited 15:44:00, 7/26/2000 I am a newbie to this thread, but I am not new to the case. I've been following this case since the early morning hours of December 26, 1996. My husband went to college in the Boulder area, and has given me good insight to the area (not as good as any members that may live there, but good enough). Then the Ramsey's made that big jump to Atlanta, Georgia, and moved in less than 5 miles from my house. I've spent the last 3 years hearing about the Ramsey's on the local Atlanta news (much of which I'm sure no one else here has heard), and I've spent the last 3 1/2 years putting flowers on JonBenet's grave. I've hung precisely 3 Angels from her Angel Tree at her grave, every anniversary of her death, since her death. I've spent the last 5 years drinking coffee every morning at the MoonBeam, right off I-285 and Powers Ferry Road, the same local coffee shop where Patsy gets her daily fill of Joe, long before she arrived. And in this coffee shop I've heard all the gossip. HOW MANY OF YOU CAN SAY THE SAME? I came to join JW as a result of an invitation from several JW posters, who are also online friends of mine, who post on other boards from which I belong. I've read all the books, I've seen all the movies and documentaries, and I've watched all of their interviews. I've read all the theories and I've seen/read all the facts. I've seen all the websites and all the forums which are out there to be seen. I came to believe that Patsy is bipolar, as my educational background is in the field of Psychology. Specifically Criminal and Adolescent Psychology. 8 years of educational training - 2 years less training than Ceryl Wecht. I also personally know of individuals who have had everything going for them, acted completely normal on some days, and on others acted as though everyone else was crazy, not them. These individuals acted just as Patsy does, and have been clinically diagnosed as bipolar. I work for a global company of 80,000 employees as an Employee Assistance Program Counselor who deals in these situations all day, every day, whether it be the employee themselves or a spouse, child, etc. As a newbie, I will understand, and my feelings will not be hurt if you refuse to read my posts. If you do read my posts you may find that I have local Atlanta news to share with you that no one else has access to, and if that is the case, I hope I was able to enlighten you. Just in the last few weeks I have relocated to Austin, Texas. I won't be getting the local Atlanta news anymore, but lately there is nothing new to report anyway. It is still my plan to continue to visit JBR's grave and place that angel on that tree, every year that I'm gone, when I return home for Christmas... So, in a nutshell, I don't think I'm such a "NEWBIE" afterall. vikilynP [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 1. Sounds like you have an interesting job in my older daughter's field. I'm not sure I can agree with you about PR = bi-polar ... I've seen a lot of that. It isn't something you'd have to guess about unless she's been on very effective meds for a long time (like before the murder), but new theory is always welcome as far as I'm concerned. Off to read your theory thread. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 4. "Gemini" Posted by vikilynp on 20:17:07 7/25/2000 Thank You for the warm welcome. Being on meds for her early on is very plausable, could be Lithium, could be Prozac. I've seen individuals like her as young as 18 years old who act completely normal on meds. Once they are off of them is when they start to lose it. There was a case a couple of years back of a guy in New York who was diagnosed 10 years earlier as Bipolar, schizophrenic, who pushed a girl off the subway platform infront of an oncoming subway. 10 years of monitoring showed that under the proper meds, this guy was normal enough and able to live on his own, with bi-weekly counseling. Off the meds, he was known to act very strange, and would often check himself into hospitals, seeking help. During these hospital stays he would refuse his meds, and was known to attack other hospital workers and other patients. I'm not saying that I know for sure that Patsy is BiPolar, I'm just saying she sure acts like it. Bipolar Disorder/Depression is often triggered by a major experience in a person's life, such as the death of a loved one, or a personal illness (In Patsy's case, stage 4 Ovarian Cancer). Patsy had a hysterectomy (that is a fact), and was put on hormones. Hormones are known to effect individuals differently, some continue on as normal, for others, hormones cause depression. Only recently have advances in neurobiology begun to show us how depression can be triggered by these traumatic occurances, such as Patsy's ovarian cancer. Research indicates that the impact of a traumatic experience actually changes gene expression (that is, how genes are currently acting) and, therefore, brain biochemistry. Each episode of depression is thought to increase vulnerability to further episodes. It seems probable that a traumatic experience sets off a chain reaction of changes in neuronal (nerve cell) firing, messenger RNA, gene expression, and hormones that influence the central nervous system, eventually producing symptoms. This sensitization model suggests that as depressive illness continues, increasingly fewer stressors are needed to trigger an episode. So it is very possible that when she had her hysterectomy in the early 90's, that she was on hormones and other meds a couple of years before JBR's murder. Something as small as JBR's non-cooperative manner could trigger Patsy to snap. I could go on forever here about Bipolar, but don't want to bore you......... vikilynP [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 5. "Welcom Vickilyn!!" I realize that some of my recent comments sounded as if I thought I had a right to resent newbies. I know that I do not. I don't resent newbies, per se. My point was that a few persons relatively new to the forum seem to me to have a hidden agenda--i.e. the destruction of the forum. What make me point the finger at newbies is that this experience is new at this forum. This kind of thing happened often at the old BNF which was finally destroyed by hackers. In any case, please pardon me if I seemed harsh toward new posters generically. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 7. "Moonbeam Gossip" Posted by vikilynp on 06:51:45 7/26/2000 The first piece of gossip that I got one morning while sitting in the Moonbeam, sipping my cup of Joe, was that the Ramsey's were spending thousands of dollars on gardeners and construction workers to fix up their new home, yet they weren't spending any effort, money or time to keep JBR and Beths' graves in descent condition. Of course I immediately hopped in my car, and drove to the graveyard. This was my first visit to JBR's grave, and I was sickened to find dead flowers, rain withered pieces of paper (looked like poetry), and weeds everywhere. That evening I went home and told hubby what I had seen. 4 days later, on a Saturday afternoon, I went back to find that it had not changed. This time I brought a little hand-broom with me, a vase of fresh flowers and a plastic trash bag. I spent 2 hours cleaning up the mess. A couple weeks later I went back to JBR's grave, and it was back in horrible condition again. This is less than a year after JBR was murdered. Had it been my daughter, I would be praying over that grave every day that someone find the killer, and I would certainly keep the graves clean. A couple of weeks later the gossip was that the Rammers were trying to enroll Burke in a private, secluded neighborhood school so that he would not be bothered by the media as he would and could be in a public school. The private school rejected his enrollment, as they and the other parents of the other students "did not want all the attention". I also heard that upon hearing of the closing of the purchase of their new home on Powers Ferry, that several of the neighbors got together to decide whether or not they would put their houses on the market. Again, they did not want the attention. Another piece of juice - the local councilman for their district had a party, where all those in his district were invited. This included the Rammers, unbeknownst to the councilman. When he found out, their invitation was immediately rescended. Patsy was said to have gotten into a tiff with a local supermarket customer over her guilt/innocence. If this is true, then their most recent comments on the 700 Club are lies, that no-one has ever said a harsh word to them about JBR's murder. Then I'm sure you've all heard that the Rammers requested that all neighborhood stores that "they might frequent", pull the tabloids from their racks, permenantly, for Burke's sake. Not sure if that ever happened. More To Come - Gotta Go To Work Now!......... vikilynP [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 18. Sounds like your gossip has more truth to it than any babble that spews out of the Ramsey's blow holes. According to them they have experienced nothing but kindness and compassion from strangers out in public. Your shouting match story from the market sounds more like reality. Is that why their house is on the market? Those real Atlanta southern bells probably can smell white hillbilly trash from WV when they see it. I agree very much with your hair bleaching scenario. I think it's possible the process was never started, the attempt was made and JBR fought to protect herself from having caustic chemicals poured on her head. The process can't be anything a 6 year old would find comfortable and painless. It took just one push or knock on the head with a hairdryer(similar in construction to a flashlight) from Patsy to bring her down. I don't think the hair bleaching rage is to far from ST's theory on motive. He doesn't lay 100% of it on bedwetting-his theory includes some sort of toilet or bathroom activity. Your handle is as hard as mine to a lot of the posters. Pinker had a point. Perhaps the scene in the bathroom was actually about the beginning of the chore (hair-bleaching and dyeing). Sounds more than plausible. I just really do keep thinking the police would have some evidence leading to the possible scene in the bathroom. I don't think even the killer would think to get rid of the materials for hair coloring from that bathroom. And if that procedure was imminent, don't you think there would be at least a tiny bit of forensic evidence to prove it? Hey, Vik, my apologies for the other night. I was really "out of my head". I finally called my dentist and he said to take four aspirin for the probable abcess until morning, and I took that and more. And I was still miserable. Wonder why? I never said I lived on the same road as they did, (couldn't afford to) I said they moved in approximately 5 miles from my house. And, if you've ever visited Atlanta, you'd know that every other road you travel down has the word "Ferry" after it. Actually, the road that the Ramseys live on goes about 3 miles, stops, changes names, goes under an Interstate, (I 285), then picks up it's old name again (not sure who thought up that dumb idea). That is if you are coming from I75. I lived off Cobb Parkway, otherwise known as Highway 41, which is approx. 5 miles north of Vinings, where the Rammer's lived. JBR's grave is north of where I lived, again by about 5 miles, off of Polk Street, near downtown Marietta. The whole cemetary is about the size of 2 acres, (very small old Civil War Cemetary) and the Ramsey's have a huge plot with a Dogwood (angel) Tree in the back. Last time I visited her grave (June 24th), there was a homeless guy with a sleeping bag hanging out about 4 or 5 yards from her grave - it was very sad. :( And, as for the average Joe who wanted to drive by and see their house - good luck, I can't tell you how many times I cruised that neighborhood, and never did see their house. It's like whoever numbered the mailboxes and streets skipped right over theirs. Plus the street is lined with very tall privacy bushes. Hodges has done wonders with that kind of "known" information. It would help to know if it was the idea of the former owners or PR though. But Hodges likely could find a connection either way it comes out. After all, a mailbox is a container and quite a few pick ups and deliveries are made at a mailbox. The misplaced mailbox could mean that JBR was not really the biological child of PR, you know. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 33. "Viki, Do you remember " Posted by MJenn on 21:15:29 7/27/2000 which private school in Atlanta was rumored to decline Burke's admission? I was at a rather exculsve private school in Atlanta about 11 years ago for a state thespian convention, but I can't remember the name off the top of my head. It was like Atlanta's version of Eton--very old money. One thing I do remember is that the winding roads in that area all had 3 words in their names and one of them was always "ferry." I think I got lost finding the school. Let me hit the yellow pages and see if I can find the name. Thanks for sharing. Why am I not surprised that JonBenet's grave is neglected? I've thought about visiting it sometime when I'm in that area (I live in Georgia), but figured they get a lot of "looky loos," as one poster once said of their house in Boulder. Didn't want to be disrespectful. How kind of you to care for JonBenet's grave. Seems the only people who care enought to do anything for her are those that never knew her. It's across the street from the house on Paces Ferry. The graves are NOT neglected. Someone has planted flowers around both graves that are very well tended to. Posted by Cassandra on 08:46:34 7/28/2000 We should consider ourselves fortunate that the Ramseys didn't live on a Peachtree something or other. There's even Peachtree Battle. There's everything but Peachtree Pie around Atlanta. They change names, wind around, and I don't know how anybody ever finds anything. I lived there for 30 years. "Getcha' rumors right here!" Posted by MJenn on 16:29:47 7/28/2000 NOTE: This message was last edited 16:29:47, 7/28/2000 Cassandra, you, at least, know your stuff. It's Westminster and Washington Seminary, and more about that in a minute. Guess I did jump up and believe Viki's "school rejection" and "neglected grave" gossip too fast. I was probably partially reacting to the challenge over Viki's credibility regarding her incorrectly naming the street the Ramseys lived on. I don't know Viki before her recent posts, but her description of the Atlanta streets was as I remembered them, so I was just trying to add that. As for the neglected grave stuff, I guess I'll have to stop by myself, unless I'm supposed to take Anderson's word for it. I have seen some nice pictures of the graves, but Viki could have seen them at a time when they were neglected, or before all that special landscaping. Anderson, can you go by and take recent pictures? Well, maybe you have...I'll check out your website. But for the "school rejection" gossip, judge for yourself how much truth it sounds like there is to that rumor: Westminster Schools, est. 1951. This is a private Christian school, for grades 1 through 12, with approx. 1700 students. They have a website at: www.westminter.net/ Westminster Schools' web page says it has two origins: North Avenue Presbyterian School of Atlanta, est. 1909; and Washington Seminary, a girls' school est. 1898, which merged with Westminster in 1953. My opinion is that the fact that this is a private "Christian" school, and that it began as a "Presbyterian" school, lends credence to the gossip because the Ramseys 1)represent themselves as christians, 2)belonged at one point to a Presbyterian church, and 3)needed schooling for their son when they returned to Atlanta, and this is a fine school with a nice campus which would provide certain needs for a child whose family has become a media target. Having said that, it is still gossip. Not that I don't appreciate gossip as much as the next nosy person, but after the latest Fleet White cat fight, I have become very aware of how gossip is easily transferred to fact, so thanks, Anderson et. al., I got the point. And thanks, Viki, because some of us do want to hear all the inside trash we can get, lacking actual facts and developments in the search for the killer of JonBenet. Form a vacuum, and it will suck up any dirt in its path. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 45. "..." Posted by Anderson on 17:12:29 7/28/2000 MJenn, I just got in from a day out of town. I'm working on a web page with recent pictures of the grave site. Give me a few minutes to get it together. "Thanks, Anderson" Posted by MJenn on 21:08:32 7/28/2000 NOTE: This message was last edited 21:08:32, 7/28/2000 The pictures are lovely, as is the gravesite. I'm still going to give Viki the benefit of the doubt, as she may have been there, as I said earlier, between landscaping work. I'll leave it to her to be time specific. Unfortunately, a lovely gravesite doesn't make me feel any better, though that's not your fault, Anderson. It just reminds me that a lovely little girl lies there. edited to add a p.s. to Gemini: Thanks for your endorsement of Anderson, and I may be too new to have the histories many of you do, but I've seen some of the posts in the work-out-room, so I'm afraid I've lost some of my trust of others here at random.
