"House Rules Repost" Posted by Chris on 19:02:18 7/26/2000 Since I haven't had time to get this page put back up, I'm reposting it here. There are lots of new people who have never read it. Thanks, Chris Justice Watch House Rules A matter of respect Some guidelines for good conduct on Justice Watch: House Rule No. 1: Do unto others. On Justice Watch, you'll find people from all over - all ages, races, religions, national origins, sexual orientations, points of view, and genders. The differences in people are part of what makes Justice Watch such fertile ground for cultivating new ideas and relationships. But nothing can poison it faster than hateful statements, harassment, threats of harm or any kind of abuse. All members have the right to express their opinions; please respect that right. House Rule No. 2: Keep it clean. Obscenity and explicit sexual remarks have no place here. House Rule No. 3: Follow good ethics and heed the law. At the risk of stating the obvious, you should not use Justice Watch for any illegal or unethical activities. Remember, illegal activities are subject to prosecution in the online world, just as they are in the real one. House Rule No. 4: Act appropriately. Act appropriately. Disruptive conduct can take many forms online, from simple rudeness to "flaming" individuals with insensitive comments. You could lose some or all of your Justice Watch privileges for such conduct whether it is directed at a Justice Watch poster or a poster on another forum. Likewise, never "Spam." Spamming is posting off-topic articles (eg, information not related to the discussion forum topic) or repeating the same information in thread after thread, especially when the post or thread generates complaints from the recipients. Other ways to lose your Justice Watch privileges are: continued harassment; impersonating another user or falsifying your user name; or making statements that could incite others to breach the standards set forth. House Rule No. 5: Respect copyright laws Any copying of posts from other forums and websites to this forum is prohibited unless the author has given permission. Posts on this forum are protected by copyright and are not to be copied elsewhere without permission. House Rule No. 6: Leave personalities out of it This forum is for discussion of the JonBenet Ramsey murder. Any prolonged and/or hostile discussion of other posters, from this or related forums, will be closely scrutinized. House Rule No. 7: Respect the privacy of others Posting of personal information about any poster here or posters on related forums without permission is absolutely prohibited and will result in strong action. House Rule No. 8: Lawsuits belong in the courthouse, not here Any poster who wishes to bring suit or consider bringing suit against a poster on this or related forums will be asked to discontinue his or her membership in this forum. Threats of lawsuits will be presumed to be serious and posters who make them will lose posting privileges. Nothing is more deadly to a free exchange of ideas than constant threats of legal action. By the same token, posters need to remember that they are responsible for what they say and do here, and that their liability is the same here as anywhere. This rule is not an attempt to limit or question anyone's right to sue. We simply ask that discussion of lawsuits take place elsewhere. House Rule No. 9: Help us. We want to make Justice Watch a pleasant, even delightful, part of your home. Please help us keep watch over our online neighborhood. If you have questions about Justice Watch standards, or want to report what you think is violation of those standards, send email to webmaster@justicewatch.com or hit the "Alert" button on the offending post. The last word: Justice Watch reserves the right to immediately terminate or suspend any member's access to the Justice Watch service for any conduct that Justice Watch, in its sole discretion believes, violates our House Rules, is illegal, tends to disrupt discussion, or otherwise harms others. Our online bottom line? Respect everyone you meet online, just as you would when you have guests in your home or you're a guest in someone else's. Justice Watch will be all the better for it. Thanks for joining the Justice Watch community. We look forward to being a part of your home and seeing you online! [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 1.
