Missed all you "no shows" until that Moet came out and then the little "selfish devil" struck and it was more of a "Oh well, more for us to enjoy!" (Just kidding.) Between the Moet and another drum roll...(Eat your heart out WY!)the signed copy of Steve's book I would call it the best night I have had in a long dang time. Yes, Ellique and Steve were the talk of the evening. Pictures will have to wait until manana because 1) I want people to approve theirs being shown and 2) I want to give exclusive rights to JW and Ma (though I will retain copy right.) I do hope the 35 mm turn out better than the digital did. There are a couple of great shots of VP covered in guacamole but it's the one of Tricia dancing on the table top that I like the best. ;-\ Ellique - you are a true gentleman and rally got the "Doers" into a party mood. Tricia brought gifts for everyone which also made the evening special and gave us each something to have as a souvenir. Thank you Tricia. Edited to say: Janab made the nicest name tags for everyone. She has a way of adding just the right artistic touch. Thanks! Steve - what can I say. Another true gentleman and all around great guy. The whole gang who did show up are very special people. Those who have not met them should plan on making Texas Do II! Thank you one and all! Edited again because - I am forgetting someone else who did something very special. "Bryant" Posted by austingirl on 11:19:51 8/12/2001 My greyhound was already named Bryant at the racetrack when I adopted him. It was his "call name" (I forget his registered name) and I didn't want to change it to confuse him. He had a hard enough time getting used to things like stairs and mirrors and tvs. Even though you didn't ask, I named Lillian Gish, the stray terrier mix, her name because I looked into her big brown eyes and the name just came into my mind psychically, LOL. Rocky, the little guy I adopted from Petfinders on the internet a few weeks ago was already named for Rock Hudson, so that was a match made in heaven. Now, to the Tejas do... It was a great time. It was wonderful to meet some new Justice Watchers face-to-face. So amazing that there is such immediate camaraderie, non-stop talk, both about the case and our RL. We rushed to Congress Street Bridge at sunset and some of us just missed the bats, only got to see the stragglers. The champagne was a big surprise. Thank you, Ellique. A special thanks to Tricia who made the trip from out of state and was so thoughtful to bring presents for everyone. And a thank you and a message of support to Steve Thomas. Posted by Ellique on 13:22:30 8/12/2001 And I am gonna stay put until Sept. 11th at which time I will have to fight that Atlanta Hartsfield International crowd to get onto a plane headed for Albuquerque and points southwest. There we were, all snuggled in for a gormet dinner in the "Blue Marlin" in Charlotte. At about 8PM EST, 7PM CST, as we all lifted "our" bubbly in a toast to my better half, on her birthday (a few days early), my ears and nose started to itch something terrible. Could it be that I was being "raked over the coals" way out in Austin Town? :<) Seriously, I just hope that there was enough of the bubbly in Austin for everyone to get a taste. The last post I saw mentioned that there was going to be perhaps 20 to 30 in attendance and I started to worry that maybe I should have ordered 6 bottles instead of 3. How many showed up? Wish me and mine could have been there but family social obligations demanded that we fly up to Charlotte for another get-together. Y'all know how that is. Love, Ellique PS: The "Blue Marlin" has slipped 2 or 3 notches in my estimation........something about a change in ownership or management. Why did they go and try to "fix something that wasn't broke". They still serve the best "Shrimp & Grits" in the world. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 9. Ellique - there was pleny of bubbly. Out of 20 only 7 showed up (forgot to count myself the first time around. - LOL!) I posted this on another thread (the daily maybe? It was late/early.) Steve sent books - no he was not there. Sorry I was not clear on that. Dun and Ma - I will get with you on pictures as soon as I hear from AG and BobC - oops and Janab. We had a great time and Austin Girl is right - it's neat to see people be "old friends' the instant they meet in person. "L" (no disrespect here) you ears should have only burned because we talked about what a great surprise you sent us. Though there was more speculation as to your identity - you had to have expected that - right? Most feel I am way off base so...guess I'll have to let them persuade me until you are ready to trust me. ;-\ Unfortunately, the pictures of the bats don't show the bats and I didn't use the 35 mm at all because the battery was too low and I didn't have time to change it. "LurkerXIV" Posted by Ellique on 21:14:45 8/14/2001 No relation but I still could spring for 800 bottles of Moet-Chandon. What about their Rose' ? Would that be OK? Please LurkerXIV, don't hold your breath !! Good gracious LurkerXiv, The State of Georgia didn't pay me that much for my bridge I was forced to sell them under their "Right of Imminent Domain". "El" Posted by hergus on 16:01:08 8/15/2001 Speaking of bridges....I hope you don't live downwind of any of those paper plants. You'd need a gas mask to sit by the pond. "Poor Lique" Posted by JR on 21:21:18 8/14/2001 Y'All just keep picking on the poor man and after he was so sweet to us "Do'ers." Keep on guessing though because I don't see some of Y'All being "Intuitive" enough to get it right IMHO. Right Lique? ;-\ Lique, you can save some money here cause I am a cheaper date than Lurker. Cakebread Chardonnay satisfies my thirst just fine. ;-) [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 48. "Ellique" Posted by JR on 21:28:59 8/14/2001 If you know your user name for sure you can request your password to be emailed and it usually only takes a few minutes. If you saved your registration email (most places send these) the user name should be on there if that is what you are "missing." One thing I hate is having so many dan passwords because it's easy to forget which goes where - LOL! [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 49. "JR" Posted by Ellique on 21:41:30 8/14/2001 Alas, after I went back and read about the "passport" more, it says that I can't use it until tomorrow, which is about 30 minutes from now. I think I read it right. I have an account using my Webtv and an account using my PC downstairs in my office. Tomorrow I will try both of them again. FDor now I must say goodnight 'cause I got to get up early and drive over to Valdosta tomorrow. Hang in there JR, I will get it right if I have to go to where the L Hotmail calls home and give them a piece of my mind and believe me I don't have too much left. :<) Love, Ellique [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 50. "Ellique" Posted by JR on 21:44:49 8/14/2001 That's odd. Maybe they have changed the rules since I got my account 100 years ago. Did you manage to get Ellique? You OK "L" or did you manage to crash your computer trying to get a freebie out of it? Sorry you can't get this thing to work for you, maybe you need to offer up some Moet to Mr. Gates and he will consider making it "simpler." ;-\ [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 53. "so sorry" Posted by Texan on 17:00:22 8/15/2001 I'm so sad I didn't get to go but had to go in to work and help fix a broken hip. I have to admit I wasn't feeling very charitable when the phone rang but the patient was a sweet old person and though I missed meeting y'all, I did feel better after helping another in need. JR, I think we live within 30 minutes of each other. I would like to meet you someday, could I e-mail you? [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 54. "Nedd" Posted by JR on 19:34:29 8/15/2001 What the "L" did you do with Ellique? Surely a freebie mail account can't take the likes of him out of the picture for this many hours? I mean, wouldn't he just go buy another computer if it crashed his? Plus he's got Web TV right? [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] ARCHIVE REMOVE
