"Bad Week In Ramseyville" Posted by Cutter on 15:38:03 8/18/2001 Jameson's little publicity stunt might have gained her a few quick kudos from her band of sick puppets, but I don't imagine the Ramseys are too happy with hir right now. The Ramseys know they were alone in the house that night. They know that DNA garbage won't ever match anyone, and they know that every time another potential suspect is cleared it just makes them look that much more guilty. Jameson just put another nail in the Ramsey's public coffin, and she's also just handed Steve Thomas a nice little gift. Lin Wood has never been known as the sharpest knife in the drawer, but it's eventually going to dawn on him that Jameson put a big kink in his hose this week. Last week, Woodie could have stood in front of a jury and honestly claimed that potential suspects were never checked out by the BPD because of their bias against the Ramseys. Jameson has taken that option away from Woodie now and anything that hurts Wood is another boon in Steve Thomas' back pocket. Anybody watching has seen the Ramsey's story steadily deteriorating in the past few months thanks to the stooges they have surrounded themselves with, and this is just another event that turned bad on them. First Smit releases case evidence that proves to everyone that his stun gun theory was a farce all along. That negative effect causes even Smit himself to re-evaluate his position -- admitting to the world on Larry King that the stun gun he has been carrying around in his back pocket for over 4 years might not be involved in the crime. Now Jameson takes away Team Ramsey's ability to claim that viable suspects were intentionally overlooked by the BPD. Can it get much worse? Yes it can, and it did. It gets worse because of the latest actions by another Ramsey stooge, Steve Ainsworth. His actions detailed in the news this week about how he crucified an innocent person show he in not capable of properly investigating a case of child molestation. That reflects on his judgement in the Ramsey case. I'd like to see him get up on a witness stand now and try to act competent with an attorney going at his throat about how he destroyed some poor guys life with his ignorant stupidity. Maybe that will happen if the Thomas civil suit ever makes it into a courtroom. If Lin Wood calls Ainsworth as a witness I'm sure the man would love to payback Ainsworth by telling his story and discrediting Ainsworth's ability as a detective. And I'll bet he'll even buy his own ticket to Atlanta. All-in-all, it hasn't been a good week for the Ramseys. [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 1. "my take on Jameson" Posted by Kelly on 19:19:41 8/18/2001 I was on the Boulder News forum when Jameson first posted there. IMO, "Jameson" started out to be James Ramsey's son, John Ramsey. John, Patsy and their minions were using that hat to sway the public. It got out of hand, and some distant relative of John Bennett Ramsey's (enter Sue Bennett) was assigned, paid, whatever to formally take on the hat of Jameson for the world to see. That was when Sue Bennett appeared on some tv program, claiming to have been Jameson all along. Has Sue Bennett been used by Team Ramsey? Absolutely! I don't think she saw what was coming though. Team Ramsey realized long ago that "Jameson" was a mistake but it's all they have ever had to use as leverage on the internet, since NOBODY believes them. What's needed: The person was actually in Boulder, Colorado December 25 and Dec 26. The person has no alibi for the night of Dec. 25, 1996. (Can you rememeber what you were doing almost five years ago on any individual night. Sure Christmas helps but not if it's just another day for you which is is for many.) The person knew the Ramseys and their habits very well. It would be convienant if the person can manage to be a daring/agressive/violent/pedophile who owns a stun gun, knows how to make a garrot, climbs in an out of windows without leaving evidence, is one footed and oh...we decided had to be DNA-less to didn't we? But he also has to be considerate enough to feed a child her favorite food before killing her, smart enough to wipe down the flashlight, smart enough not to bring his tool box with him except for cord and duct tape, smart enough to frame the Ramseys, lucky enough to have what some believe to be the Keystone Cops, lucky enough that either no one watched the OJ trial or "forgot" we don't cover victims with a blanket, lucky enough to have a non-agressive DA, lucky enough that the parents refuse to cooperate with the police, and smart enough not to get caught for almost five years but un-lucky enough that people still care about the case almost five years later. There's more but gosh, my brain is now fried with all the luck this person has. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 17. Either the freaking DNA matches or it doesn't. They don't get it, they've never gotten it, and they will never get it. Consistent with might apply to two hairs being compared, since there has been objection to using the term "match" in that case. But, with DNA, "consistent with" will never apply. They want it to be "consistent with" in order to justify harassing some poor busturd because some of his DNA markers might match the broken DNA sample they have from the crime scene. Forget about the fact that that DNA will never ever be used to convict anyone in this case, it can only be used to rule someone out. The funny thing is, (although you'll never convince me of this) in theory, even if that DNA did belong to the killer, there is still the possibility it didn't get there on the night she was killed. Even if it did belong to the killer, he'll never be convicted because of it. Because, it is INCOMPLETE. It is basically irrevelent to getting a conviction in this case. Stories like These SHOULD BE checked out. Seems like the gripe here is about the newspapers making this man out to be a perv. but never correcting it. His gripe should be against them. Detective Ainsworth was only doing his job. If they have to question 100 men to get 1 sicko off the street, so be it. I'm not so certain this man did nothing wrong. I haven't read what they are saying at jameson's, so perhaps they are misusing it. However, "consistent with" is the most appropriate one to use when dealing with incomplete DNA test profiles. It makes the important acknowledgement that although the available markers are the same for both samples, there is no way to know whether the missing components would be the same. The more cautious professionals in court testimony probably even use this term when describing test results that give good readings at all markers, again acknowledging that the entire DNA pattern is not provided in DNA tests (only a subset of it). That's also why they discuss the results in terms of probabilities that a crime scene sample came from a certain individual. It recognizes that ALL DNA comparisons are incomplete, in a sense. What I think is most interesting about the story of jameson's DNA samples is the fact that apparently they are degraded (or not from the person she thinks). Notice in the news story that jameson's samples were found to be similar enough to the crime DNA (in the other case, not JBR) to warrant asking the supposed donor to provide another sample for testing. That sample, collected under controlled conditions, proved to NOT be consistent with (match, if you prefer) the crime scene DNA. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 31. "I stand corrected" Posted by Watching you on 08:35:23 8/23/2001 Fly. But, (you knew that was coming, didn't you?), I am having a hard time with it. Is this truly a term they use in court rooms now? Remember, I work for a DNA expert, and I have never heard him use the term "consistent with" in referring to DNA. I have heard him refer to "not viable," "unreliable," "incomplete," and "worthless," none of which is courtroom language, I suppose, but nonetheless, worthless is worthless. What should be said, perhaps, is that the available markers are consistent but the DNA is worthless for identifying anyone because the beauty of DNA identification is that it is nearly perfect identification, if all the markers are present in the samples. I don't like that consistent with term - it gives a false impression of the reliability of that DNA. Good powers of deduction on the DNA sample jameson provided being degraded, BTW. Probably day-old spit (or something, LOL). [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 32. "WY" Posted by fly on 09:14:39 8/23/2001 WY - The problem WY, is that incomplete DNA test results are not completely worthless, even though they are insufficient to declare with very high probability that the crime scene DNA was left by the suspect. The missing information dramatically reduces the probability that can be quoted when describing the likelihood that two DNA samples have the same donor, but it can be used to the extent of saying this person is a "possible" donor. Exactly HOW incomplete makes a difference, obviously. Although not good enough to declare with reasonable certainty that the suspect is the perp, I would think that even partial results can be used as at least a small piece of the case - almost like a blurry picture from a security camera can be used. Maybe because of the importance people give to DNA test results the courts would not allow incomplete results to be presented - thinking people would give too much credence to them - but I kind of doubt it. If JR's or PR's DNA had shown the same pattern as the degraded JBR case DNA's available markers, I think much would be made of that (if ignoring the innocent transfer problem). I kind of doubt that anybody who believes JR or PR is the killer would be having problems with describing Ramsey DNA as "consistent with" the crime scene DNA and arguing that it simply "doesn't match." "You're right, Fly" Posted by Watching you on 09:29:52 8/23/2001 I doubt that I would be having these problems with the term "consistent with" if, as you say, they were consistent with one of the Ramseys. I don't think my reasoning would be what many might think, though. It would not surprise me to see the Ramseys' DNA there because they were there, not because I would think it gives any substantial credence to the theory that one of them killed JBR. If that DNA was consistent with the Ramseys, there is nothing sinister about thinking if could very well be theirs, since it is a known fact they were there. His odds are a heck of a lot better than the Lotto of coming away a wealthy man... [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] ARCHIVE REMOVE
