I pray we get through all of the rest of our days without a repeat of September 11, 2001. Hope you're feeling better Starry... this was the shortest cold I've ever had... I'm like you and usually get the congestion, but not this time. Went to a group meeting last night and our subject was "judgement." Of course the conversation made it's way around to the events of 9/11. The "debate" elevated into an argument in record time. Reminded me so much of our conversations here... those who want to make it about a difference in religious beliefs and those who believe they are simply terrorists and need to be rooted out. Did you know the recovery workers say a prayer before they start each shift? To stand in front of all that rubble and stench, and to still have a strong faith, is amazing. "I was so hoping" Posted by Seeker on 10:11:48 9/23/2001 that they would have found more survivors in the sub-basement... Almost got thrown last night. It's the first time Sam has tried to buck me off since I rescued him last January. He's one BIG horse too. I got really lucky that he didn't throw me, although I have this really neat purple bruise and scrape on my leg now. Hope you all have a good day! I pray that all the "stalkers" and all the "nasties" will leave now...and let us all concentrate on the reason why we are all here together...to win this fight for Jonbenet...and never give up...never let her down... The atmosphere before the horrible attacks was amazing...everyone talking and trying to find a way to bring about true justice for our angel...why did it change...? We are all here together for one purpose...let us stick together to see the outcome...and celebrate together... Shee...purrple...I read your messages...and I will not forget your words... What a stinker he must be! At least he knows where he stands with you after you got on again. V_P, thanks for starting the daily. I know Dun is traveling. Cooler weather finally so it feels like fall. I'll need to wash my fall clothes, now. Hope everyone has a better Sunday than Saturday. Hopefully we can all get along. "Beautiful Sunday...." Posted by Voyager on 11:53:39 9/23/2001 here, and hope it is where you all are too.... Shee, how wonderful to wake up and know that you will help to create something as wonderful as a life long union of two committed people...what a joy and a rare privilege! I love weddings and hope the one where you are presiding today is a lovely one.... Slept badly and dreamed fitfully, waking often....finally went sound asleep about 5 this morning and slep until almost 11....Dreamed about spiders invading my bed and space....they followed me everywhere and I could not get away from them...all sorts of different sizes and kinds...it was frightening and exhausting.... Anyway, glad to be up and see that it is normal and beautiful outdoors...think I will go get something to plant later today and spend some time in the yard today... Scoop called just before bedtime last night to check in after three days....she had gone to Alamagordo to Holloman AFB to take pictures of the Stealth Bombers taking off for their unknown destinations to defend our country.... I always know she is OK, because I open the morning paper and see the pictures she has produced the day before and sent into her paper with her digital camera and her laptop..... But it is just wonderful when she checks in after she is safetly home off the road and tells us about her adventures.... This time she went directly from her assignment in the southern part of the state, to one of her editor's wedding in Santa Fe, then met her photo journalist husband at an art gallery there to hear a world famous photographer speak and to view a collection of his works....Oh, the life of a photographer! Mr. V. says if he could start all over, he would might opt for the photojournalism life! Her assistant editor told her when she got back, that the Washington Post and the NY Times were looking to use one of her stealth pictures from this week....the one that she named arrowhead...a stealth headed staight up in the sky in profile, looking like a black arrowhead....if any of you in the east see it, I would like to know....(cut it out and send it to me!) Also one of her Los Alamos fire pictures was used just recently again in the Washington Post in the Style section for a story on natures revenge...natural disasters....OK, I am through bragging...but just for today...lol..... Seeker, that sounds like quite a horse! Glad you are OK...burr under the saddle? Yikkkeeessss! Dawn, glad to see that you are back and rested...it has been a difficult week for us all....Thor will have you chatted up and happy in no time though! We really need our British friends here just now.... Had to cancel our ballooning as the early forcast was way too breezy....Mr. V. back out in the garage refinishing the highchair...that man is in constant need of a project! The new joy of his life is that they are building a new huge Lowe's (hardware store) within a mile of our house....only Bets will know how much that means to our kind guys.... By the way Bet's, just have to tell you how much it meant to me that you shared your stories of your young son's return home from the east after the devastating bombings there....and all of the reactions he shared when safetly home....his brithday party and the return to normality...I absolutely bawled through both of your posts, and could actually "feel" your joy and relief! Blessings on all of your family...how lucky you are! Back to check with ya's later, enjoy this beautiful day and be glad that we are all still here....Voyager [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 6. "Autumn here early...." Posted by Ev on 11:35:26 9/23/2001 in fact it started during the summer! I like to kid Mr. Ev that I have no interest in football until about November, when I have finally shaken off the last renmants of summer, but not this year. Went to the Stanford/Arizona State game last night --DID NOT miss those little planes droning overheard with advertisement banners trailing. I guess those days are over. Good for the new Miss America!! She already knows how to do it right. Getting ready to watch the memorial service at Yankee Stadium in an hour. Oh, how I wanted the rescuers to find some pockets of survivors, but I guess the search is about to start as recovery only. The enormity of the loss of each beloved individual is slowly and sadly sinking in. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 8. Posted by purr on 14:01:25 9/23/2001 i have been outside all morning....enjoying the most glorious day! the sun is out....the temp is perfect. i got in the hot tub.....and soaked and soaked. then ventured into the cold swimming pool. whoa. a wakeup call to my body. but i loved it. then back into the hot tub....mmmmmmmmmm! i found myself singing "God Bless America". in fact, i find myself singing that every day. i really love that song. it warms my heart. i came inside to watch dallas football. our team sucks! sorry, but it does. oh well, at least they are great guys and collected over $50,000 for the survivors the other day! i am so very glad dawn is back. and thanks dawn, i appreciate your acknowledgement. im so glad our britain gal is back on board! cheery o' to ya. what city do you live in? i was able to spend 2 weeks in Reading one time.....then tour London. i had heard the English were so very rude. i never found that at all. i was on a mission trip there, and we were invited into everyone's home for tea every day. lovely people, the English!!! (we just scored a touchdown wooooohoooooooooooo! but we are still behind...oh well, good catch!) today, i am thinking and praying for all the children who lost their moms and dads. their lives are changed forever......amen. i am praying they all have very supportive family and friends to care for them and hold them and love them during their grieving time and throughout their lives! did you all know that 3 huge semi's made it to NY from Texas? a mission group from here is there to feed them Texas style barbecue. the rescuers and volunteers love it. they love the hot food as they mostly get sandwiches to eat. their texas restaurant is down at ground zero, and another one is at the jacob javit's center where the volunteers sleep. i am proud of my Texas brothers...volunteering and giving them the very best Texas food! a banner saying....."Texas Loves NY" is on the side of their trucks. i just love it. praying our FBI and CIA find out more info about terrorists attacks, so they never happen again here in the U.S.A.! praying for President Bush as he leads the country through a war! i hope you are having the most glorious day too! and thanks, v_p for the daily thread today! nice work! "Oh purr" Posted by Watching you on 14:27:23 9/23/2001 I get so choked up when I read about all the people who drive for miles and miles to help NYC. What a great thing Texas has done - you don't suppose they could stop in WNY with some of that barbecue, do you? Naw, that's okay, just another one of those stories I so love to hear. Dallas can join Buffalo in lousy football teams. Maybe next year. Just about all the players in Buffalo are new this year. I still don't like the quarterback, wish we could have kept Doug Flutie. Oh well, wish in one hand, poop in the other, see which one gets filled up first, right? [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 13. Yes, I am still sick. Yes, I am disgusted with the pettiness and childishness that goes on here and other forums. There isn't one of us here, except for those who have life-threatening illnesses (we have a few) who has a right to complain about anything. Most of us are safe, have an intact family, decent health. "Good Evening to All..." Posted by LurkerXIV on 15:54:18 9/23/2001 I watched the ceremony from Yankee Stadium...it was very touching. We are still a nation in mourning. But everyone is pulling together, trying to share in the healing. The Harlem Boys and Girls Choir was so uplifting....to see those beautiful young faces and hear their gorgeous voices...it made me feel hopeful for the future of America. The prayers...Hebrew, Muslim, Christian, Sikh...all going up to the one true God...asking Him for peace....I pray that He will hear our pleas. So many tears in the crowd, rolling down the cheeks of widows, widowers, and bereaved mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and lovers. God be with them all in their great grief. Prayers for Carl, Seashell, and everyone who needs them today. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 18. Posted by Mels on 19:23:05 9/23/2001 Thanks v_p for getting us started today :) I am glad you had a short course of that chit goin' around...my '15' missed one day of school the week previous to being Manhandled, as WY has detailed the experience, by this chit, so I hope you indeed miss the 'flashback' part of the 'cold'. It is so inspiring to know the Heros say a prayer each day before going to work...A comfort to see such dedication and braun reaching out to the one who supplies our strength. Seeker...hope that purple disappears soon and that Sam will consider your kindness before getting restless next time. Voyager...here's to peaceful sleep and restful nights. How cool to see your kiddos pics in the paper...frequently! You must be so proud! Watching You...bless your heart, it will get better tomorrow sometime, or at least you will have times you think it is better...then on the fourth day, you know it is not going to kill you. Anything in between I can't attest to as I only watched '15' deal with it...but when that kid can't eat I KNOW he's been laid low! I usually cook one family size meal for him and then one family size meal for the three others of us. Tyleno layered with Advil will help. Good luck. OH! Purr! That is fantastic they are shipping some of our wonderful Bar B Que up to Ground Zero, New York...a bit harder to believe the banner "We love New York" after seeing all those bumper stickers years ago giving the 'Yankees' directions back home...lol! But, Americans we all are! And it took this to help us all Bond. Speaking of food! When we were in Maryland just north of DC I was startled that there weren't more restaurants and fast food there! You never have to worry about loosing contact with McDonalds up there, though...there is one on every corner. One of the reasons we HAD to return to Texas was that there is no credible Mexican food establishments. Chevy's FreshMex was the closest we got. Had to go to Tennessee to get El Chico's. None of the major Chains are there...Olive Garden was in the phone book but we never found it. We did locate a Wendy's, 2 Taco Bell's (one in Rockville and one outside of Gaithersburg)...I never found the Long John Silver's. But, the last straw, what really lead to our return to Texas was there was no Blue Bell ice cream. Don't eat it unless you are willing to support the adiction that follows, why if it weren't for Blue Bell, I'd be a size 6 instead of the volumptuousness I am today. :) Prayers for Starry and Carl and WY...and those who mourn for our Land. Mels Oh, purr...I NEED a pool and a Hot tub now...I was doing OK till you mentioned it. *pouting* But glad you were able to enjoy our lovely day and choose such exquisite indulgences. :) [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] ARCHIVE REMOVE
