"Answer Received from the Wheelers" Posted by Dunvegan on 20:25:52 9/25/2001 I have received an e-mail from the Wheelers explaining that the paperwork is being overnighted to David and I immediately. They apologize for the delay. They have been deluged of late. I can understand that. I accept this explanation, and apologized for taking this situation public, and that I only did so as my alternatives were limited, due to the necessity to pay the monthly bill and keep Justice Watch alive. I trust that I can move the domain name into my own name by the end of the week, if the papers arrive promptly. I appreciate the support of the membership for my difficulties in this matter. I have no personal quarrel with the Wheelers...but I had to go public, as justicewatch.com was about to go dark, no matter how many phone calls I made to hosting sites or Network Solutions, I was powerless without that one necessary release form in hand from the Wheelers. I urge us all to put this behind us, and continue with the true mission of this board. I will let you all know when the documents arrive. Even if you do get the papers I am still going to see what legal recourse I have to get my money back. Please don't apologize. This is what it took to get their attention? Then they give you this lame excuse that they "were busy"? BULLS**T. Chris has been exposed and she will NEVER be thought of as a decent person again. I hope MrsBrady never gave Chris money. I hope MrsBrady comes back. I can honestly say I have never met a more sneaky, dishonest person like Chris. Sorry I have never actually met her. Glad I never will. "I Agree Trish" Posted by Mandarin on 20:47:25 9/25/2001 How ironic that since August 4th, almost 2 months later, Dun finally gets a response. That is no coincidence and yes we will get beyond this but believe me there was no need for Dun to apologize. She snuffed them out. Bravo Dun! Must be the Irish in you. Trish, you are a little like me, you will not go quietly just because someone finally fessed up after making Dun and everybody go through mental gymnastics and rudely keeping Dun and her family in the dark. That was unspeakable. Dun, it's your right to forgive and I understand your plight but I'm sure posters here will want to do something, perhaps on their own. For me, I never contributed a dime and I hope I'm not exposing myself as some sort of miser by saying that. It's just that internet solicitations always left me with a bad taste in my mouth and I'm very glad I never donated to any cause, good or bad but that's just my opinion. Anyway, Dun that's fantastic that the Wheelers came out of the woodwork. Nice work Dun ... you'd make a helluva chess player. That is where Chris' posts. She posts undet the hat Catnip. Catnip is one of the favorites at Flameslueths. Posted by Cutter on 13:48:41 9/27/2001 I haven't followed this thread, and now that I read it, it's got me scratching my head. I've transfered a domain name before. There is no "paperwork" involved in the process. There is a "change request form" on the Network Solutions web page that you request. That form gets emailed to you and you make all the changes you want to the registration. You email it back to them and they make the changes within 24 hours or so. From that point on, the only person who can make future changes is the person whose "new" name and email address is on the registration. It can't get any simpler... I don't know what all the hassle is about. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 20. "Why Mandarin" Posted by Nedthan Johns on 14:25:07 9/27/2001 NOTE: This message was last edited 14:25:07, 9/27/2001 What ever do you mean? Really? I can never understand you JW'ers. I don't understand the anger against Chris. Perhaps I missed a post or two, can anyone clearify this for me. Let me see if I have it straight. Chris Wheeler, sets up Justice Watch and runs it for years, but up until recently asked for donations due to the lenghthy hours she has had to put in, and has to pay monthly for services. JW'ers willingly send her money, as it was a donation, NOT a membership. Chris openly tells members the board is too much to handle, undertaking a full course of school and rasing children, and asks if someone would like to take over. In comes Dunvegan. It's only been what, not quite 2 months now, and Dunvegan is upset because she hasn't received the appropriate transfer papers. So they are finally on the way, YET some JW'ers are still OUT to get Chris. I don't get it? So she slacked on sending papers, BIG deal. It's not like this forum was a professional runned profitable business. I think anytime anyone donates money they have to realize or should realize WHY they are donating it. I can't understand why Tricia seems so upset regarding this. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 21. "So, ask me: did Chris ever "click" on that form?" Posted by Dunvegan on 15:02:26 9/27/2001 I'm really not going into the 20-page answer here...just the 10-page one. If you look at the small print at the bottom of the form...a domain must be in PAID status before you can use it. justicewatch.com was due to expire on Aug. 3, 2001. So...I paid it up for another year. $70. If the form is so easy...why hasn't Chris submitted it to NS saying she's handing over ownership? There is a noterization requried...but other than that, she could have made this a breeze. It's when someone pops up at NS and says, "Hi, I'm the new owner of cnn.com. Just send all the ownership rights to my e-mail: nefarious@hacker.net...NS puts the requirement of signed and noterized paperwork to be submitted so it's all legal and real...not just some domain name hi-jacking. Otherwise, no one's domain would be safe. Said you found a form at NS...I suggest you just read all of it...follow each link to each form, read the fine print at the bottom of each form, print out each form required to fax in (one from old owner, one from new owner)...and updates of handles for new owners, et. al. I'll be seeing you sometime next month, if you actually do this. You can buy an unregistered name for pocket change in about 4 screens. Done it all the time. Transfer...more like real estate transfers, and about the same amount of trouble and paperwork. If I could just call them up and say, "Gimme justicewatch.com"...don't you think I'd have already done so? What's the problem? Can't pay the hosting company bill...only the owner can. Can't move the site to a bigger server and point the DNS for justicewatch.com...only the owner can. For Pete's sake Ned...grow a brain. Or better yet, why don't you just do the little or nothing you think it takes to get justicewatch.com and show me how easy it is. "Hello, Network Solutions...this is Ned...I own justicewatch.com now. That's OK...right?" [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 24. "I was sent the following "Chronology of Cooperation"" Posted by Dunvegan on 15:49:24 9/27/2001 ...that Chris Wheeler posted at FS. Chris is saying she did not have my address...so how could she send me the paperwork. But, before I reference this latest from Chris at FS... First: I wrote my address down for Chris, while sitting at her dining room table in Michigan. I handed it to her before I left. Obviously, I knew she'd need it to send the paperwork. Over their dining room table, they promised David and I it wouldn't take them any longer than a week to send out the paperwork. No problem. There were handshakes. We thanked them with a bottle of champagne. I called the Wheeeler house after this meeting...leaving our address on their answering machine. I have our phone bills to show prove this. In total, I have received 7 e-mails from Chris (one being about the 8 people showing interest in keeping the board up and running.) None of those in a comprehensive search of my e-mail came after August 4th.) Between 7/1 and 7/18, I received exactly 6 e-mails from "webmaster@justicewatch.com". All were extremely short, none requested address information, mostly just saying what's next, what do you want to do about the board, etc. With the exception of one message inquiring about Kitski's health, which had more detail, all were comprised of one to three sentences. After our visit to the Wheeler's on 8/4, I received nothing as far as e-mail from Chris. I'd love to see the traceroute on these letters from the hosting company Chris claims to have sent. I see nothing from her between 7/18 and last night when she sent me a short and inflamatory note. Notarization is necessary according to Network Solutions for both David and I and the Wheelers to transfer the domain. Network Solutions does nothing without these official papers in hand. Finally, Chris' husband wrote, on 8/30, saying that he had gotten the necessary papers notarized, and where to send them. Chris' husband on the 21st of August sent us a very nice letter of congratulations on the status of how the board was running...and said that he and Chris would get me the paperwork the next week...if I were still committed to running the board. I responded with, "Yes, I am," and the address again of where to send the paperwork. Still, no paperwork. I asked David to try and contact Chris' husband with all needed information...try to make a direct contact, as I felt this would be a more productive route to action. David called and called, leaving our address on their answering machine. David sent out e-mails on the 17th and 20th...Chris' husband sent the letter to me, and I had to pass it on to David, and ask him to begin to write and call the Wheeler household. David always says "sorry" whatever he does. He's inflicted with kindness and always tends to over-apologize. David e-mailed the Wheeler's (as I'd given up on getting a response from Chris) on the 16th and 20th...always inclding the address. Here is an example of one of his e-mails: From: David McLeod To: lamidon@pacbell.net David McLeod wrote: > > Hello, Jerry > > How are you and Chris doing? > > Sorry for the delay in responding to > your request. > > I imagine you must be pretty busy, considering > > the recent attacks. > However, if you could find the time to send > the JusticeWatch paperwork to: > > David McLeod > xxx xxx Street #xxx > San Francisco CA 94109-6187 > > I would appreciate it. > > Best regards, > > David McLeod > Remember: I wrote down my address and gave it to Chris at her very own dining room table on August 4th. I have temporarly discontinued since late last week the Dunvegan@JusticeforJonBenet.org address and had already began using the Dunvegan@JusticeWatch.com and the Webmaster@JusticeWatch.com addresses shortly after Aug. 4th. But, I was receiving mail to Dunvegan@JusticeforJonBenet.org well past the date on the timestamp below: Subject: Justice Watch Public Forum Poll Daily Summary Date: Mon, 10 Sep 2001 05:34:30 -0500 From: form_engine To: Dunvegan@JusticeforJonBenet.org Justice Watch Public Forum Poll: 4 results in last 24 hours If indeed messages were not reaching me, SMTP would have said so by bouncing the message back to Chris. Chris should have noticed a "bounced message alert" when the mail was undeliverable. But, I'd also given her my personal e-mail address while in Michigan, and all phone numbers. She could have tried that. Again, I would have taken her calls collect to save her the money. Chris has both my home and cell phone numbers, we've left our address on her answering machine. We wrote it down for her. Anyone can get my address with a whois at Network Solutions. How hard was it if one method of communications "failed" to try another? We kept trying. If she'd lost the written mailing address I gave her in Michigan, a call would have cleared that up (I'd sent her my phone number in previous e-mails), and I would have given her the address again. Whenever I receive bounced e-mail, I try just try another route. This is only one of the e-mails that Chris had from me, earlier, with our home number: ----- Original Message ----- From: Leia Amidon To: Justice Watch Webmaster Sent: Thursday, July 05, 2001 9:56 PM Subject: Re: Justice Watch Hello, Chris: I just returned this afternoon from vacation, and was extremely happy to see your e-mail. I would very much like to discuss the forum with you...shall I give you a phone call tomorrow, or would you rather conduct correspondence via e-mail? Please let me know. If you'd like a call, please send me a phone number where I can reach you...or, you can call me collect at 415-567-xxxx anytime after 8 a.m. PST. Thank you for the message...looking forward to talking with you. Regards, Leia Amidon/Dunvegan And, Chris had called me. She had my phone number. So there are three alternate avenues of communications: a home office phone number with answering machine...the Dunvegan@JusticeforJonBenet.org, and my personal e-mail address, all previously sent to Chris. Go to Network Solutions http://www.netsol.com/cgi-bin/whois/whois and do a enter into the look-up field name leia, amidon Click on any of the "handle" links (like LA8254) You'll get my address immediately. FS makes it a point that I post my home number. Which is cause for much merriment. However, that number is all over the net, which is how clients find me for contract work. I've been involved with Internet activities and emergency information security for over ten years...therefore, obviously, my phone number is everywhere...and I early on gave my phone numbers to Chris Wheeler so that she could call me and discuss the logistics of transferring the forum. Why is Chris so lost in her ability to contact me? Chris could have posted here she had lost my address...I would have promptly called her with it. So why all the excuses? I know I call my business associates up when their e-mail addresses change, or use an alternate e-mail address if they leave their jobs...why couldn't Chris have tried even one other avenue? Why the "Chronology of Cooperation" posted at FlameSleuths instead of explaining this situation to me over here, Chris? The only thing I've received from you since 7/18, is the e-mail you had no trouble sending me yesterday between your husband's extremely polite and incredibly cooperative e-mails, titled "Pack of LIES!!" No trouble finding me when you wanted to scream at me. So...what AM I to think? Chris: just how did you get that one to me, while all the rest failed? (BayBB...It was said by the Wheelers that they are sending the requisite papers Priority Mail. The USPS page says Priority Mail takes 2 to 3 days. Meanwhile...I cannot pay the hosting bill at CWI. I'm not the owner. I tried. If I get the paperwork by Saturday th 29th, Network Solutions and I will get on the phone and try to jump through all the other hoops: faxing them copies, and sending on originals, etc. That, even with my $299 will take up to 48 hours. It still may be too late for the hosting company payment on Monday the 30th. I pray not. But, Chris has alway had at least 2 e-mail addresses for me, and at least two phone numbers. Also, I wrote down my address at her dining room table. Excuse me for thinking that there was little real wish for Chris to turn over the domain to me. When in Michigan I called and called to get her to see me on the tight schedule I had there (2 days)...she only gave me the most basic several sentences for access on 2 3x5 cards...just several sentences on one...the name of the hosting co. on the other. She never said she'd call CWI Hosting and tell them she was turning over the site...so that when the site went down (along with their site) they refused to discuss much with me...I not being the owner...and the owner not telling them. This is not how I've ever handled a domain flip. Not in private life, not at Logictier when we needed to assist our clients (Sony, 2002 Olympics, et. al.) to new situations when our venture capitol dried up. Personally, I call people when e-mail doesn't work if I really want to get business done. And the Justice Watch membership should be kept informed of the situation.) "Dunvegan" Posted by Real Stormy on 16:37:27 9/27/2001 There is no question in my mind as to who is telling the truth here. I've dealt with these people before. I know what kind of people they are. It appears to me that there is a definite plan here. Chris seems to have just changed her mind when she realized you were not going to continue the forum in the one-sided way she conducted it. From what I have seen so far, you are a neutral person on the issue which has divided JW in the past. In any case, if you have an opinion on the issue, your moderating has not revealed it. I realize that that must be a difficult thing to do, and you have done it well. I'm glad you went public with this information. I recognize that you had no alternative. Let's hope that the embarrassment (if that's possible with that bunch) will encourage her to do the right and honest thing. Best wishes. "Dunvegan" Posted by Baybb on 16:36:15 9/27/2001 I have been studying and studying your post to try to make sense of all this and what I am getting is that what Chris posted is correct. You did not respond to the Wheeler's request for the correct snailmail address from their e-mail of 8-30-01 until 9-16-01? Is that correct? I don't know what happened to your address you said you left on their dining room table but it seems to me if you really wanted the forum you wouldn't have waited so long to reply to their request. I hope she is telling the truth this time and has sent the paperwork. When I was told about her litigation central rants at FS, the first thing to cross my mind was the number of times you've posted your phone number here. But, like Patsy Ramsey, she thinks we're stupid... and I guess rightfully so with all the money that was sent to her, no questions asked, myself included, (minimal amount of $). I found out yesterday that a resume I had posted on a website over a year ago could be easily found by just typing my name into a google search. I was prompted to do so when personal information was being published about me over there ... you know those google girls, lol. Anyway, they had to have my last name to do the search, and I wonder who could have given it to them?? Not a big deal except for the invasion of privacy and the fact that my information made them even more jealous than they already were of me... you know how they get when they're jealous of you, your name pops up in almost every post, ROFLMAO. They only got part of their information right though, oh well... at least they got something right for once :o) Chris once said the moderators were not privy to email addresses or personal information of members... then today or last night, she said they were. So, again, if you thought your personal information was safe with Chris, think again, Pedro, Holly, Baybby, China, and whomever else she decided to appoint moderator, were also privy. Or better yet, why don't you just do the little or nothing you think it takes to get justicewatch.com and show me how easy it is. "Hello, Network Solutions...this is Ned...I own justicewatch.com now. That's OK...right?" Ned: Whoa Dune. Not so fast. After reading your explanation I can see why you are upset. There are only 2 explainations that come to mind. 1.) That Chris is just busy, hasn't had time to pay attention to any of this and will eventually send you the paper work. 2.) She had no intent on turning over JW in the first place, which I can't imagine why. Can you? It seems to me that like some people in the business world, she is just slow to react. You seem to be very well versed in business and are probably not used to this snails pace. Perhaps Chris after such time has passed, just doesn't want to deal with it. If so, I guess there isn't really anything you can do, unless you want to file suit. I would guess the papers are in the mail. Give it a day or two and see what happens. "Post from Dunvgan to WOR, and JW in General" Posted by Dunvegan on 16:47:29 9/27/2001 If the conditions of uncivility continue here, I will close this forum for a while. There is no need for personal attacks. It is getting entirely out of hand...beyond the boundries of the "Work Out" room. Please go back and edit out unnecessary personal venom. It is obvious that there are two diametrically opposed factions fighting each other here...and bringing gallons of fuel to the fires. If and when the domain name is transfered, Justice Watch will take on an entirely new layout, and be an entirely public forum. It will be more about case content, about the Ramsey murder, and other murder cases, crime and prevention, and entirely less about member conflict. It will be broader in reach, a useful reference for anyone looking for case news, far less configured to allow small areas for slugfests, and in general a crime portal more professional than this. I am requesting of all of you that you think before you post. Otherwise, I will have no choice but to remove this increasingly barbaric forum until the new JW portal site and format is on it's new server, and configured in place. This site is under development on anothe server as a crime portal site. There will be forums, but filtered and moderated forums for discussion...not flame-wars. I will not allow this site to become a warground for antagonistic "factions" to become increasingly bitter and utterly unruly. Go to FlameSleuths if that is what you seek. Dunvegan PS: If this continues one more hour, I am prepared to take the fourm down to one fourm, The Daily...where reports on the transfer of the domain name will be posted. Any and that means ANY one causing heartburn and heartache will be immediately deleted from the membership. The new fourm will look a lot more like this: http://www.apbnews.com There will be forum areas, and ALL members will be required to register again if they wish to participate in the new portal site. Policing of malcontents shall be both automated by the filtering software that the site includes, human monitors, and myself. This is the end of this childishness. Not only will the new site restore order, it will offer resources, and news. It will be primarily a content site...and fourms will be a small part of the whole. The final word is simple: shape up. I'll begin with terminating memberships this evening if things do not improve...and if they still do not improve, I will take the site down to a single forum page by Friday. As soon as the paperwork is completed as promised by the Wheelers, I shall bring up a portal site on a new server, with entirely new software, and a completely new look. Obviously, there is a force of destruction at work here now, but I will not allow that force to gain any victories at all. I just knew you would come up with a solution. Give us a little warning though. What would happen Dun, say, if I were to log on sometime Friday night, would I just go to my regular bookmark for JW and then I would see the daily? Whatever, it sounds pretty simple and you know it might make a lot of sense since there does not appear to be any other method to stop the madness. Proud to be here with you, whatever way the forum goes. I really like your style. Regards, Mandarin [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 33. It's an issue of trust Ned. Chris asked for money so she could update software. Chris said she would account for the money by posting for all the world to see. Chris let other people (myself included) give the impression the forum costs were high and coming out of her pocket. No new software was ever purchased. Chris never accounted for where the money went The cost of the forum is 30 dollars a month. Very misleading in Chris' part. I don't want to keep talking about this until I have looked at a few other things about forum costs and such. If I find what I am looking for I will post it. I am not going to sue. I am not going to try and file any sort of charges. I have calmed down enough ( after I found out how I had been mislead) to realize these things would just disrupt and serve no good purpose. Thank you Voyager and Greenleaf for your calming posts. Ned I gave money freely because I was under the impression the forum was expensive. That was the impression given by Chris. Nuff said. Dunvegan I would like to point out if Chris was having such a hard time contacting you why didn't she post something on the daily like: " Hey Dun can't get a hold of you call me asap." Snce you were leaving messages and your email was not bouncing back you had no need to think she was not receiving your messages. Dunvegan you have no worries. You are a stand up lady with strong morals and scruples. The truth is coming out Dunvegan and you have the truth on your side.
