Posted by Dunvegan on 21:26:05 9/24/2001 It's taken us nearly all day to get David's mother on a United Airlines flight across the border to Canada...we've just returned from shopping to restock our depleted pantry. As promised, I have already began to make some changes that shall become apparent to you very soon. I am compiling the list of changes that shall be instigated here at Justice Watch, and you'll be able to see tomorrow what those changes shall be. Thank you for your continued patience and support. I'm determined to take careful consideration of the present situation, and then act so as to do the right thing for the forum, and for the forum members. One last (historical) note: Neville Chamberlin I am not. And, thank you for the civility shown lately by the majority of the membership of Justice Watch. You all are a "class forum act." "Thanks, Dunvegan" Posted by LurkerXIV on 21:33:36 9/24/2001 Most of us want nothing more than a rational place with tolerant people to discuss the JonBenet case, and when there is no news there, to discuss other true crime cases, all in the search for justice. Right now, the attack on our nation is on everyone's mind, and we appreciate your setting up a separate forum where we can find the latest information, and discuss our views and our feelings during this crisis. Those who would disrupt and destroy have no place here. Hopefully, your new measures will reduce the efficacy of their deployments. Definitely not like Chamberlain...more like Patton! I look forward to a long, healthy relationship with the new and improved JusticeWatch, and the many intelligent and thoughtful people who post here. "thanks, Dunvegan" Posted by Maggie on 21:36:56 9/24/2001 I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you, Dunvegan, for the great job you are doing in running this site. If your performance to date is an indication of what we can expect in the future, I welcome the changes you have planned. I have especially appreciated the Terrorist attack forum in recent days. I have limited access to news during the workday, and the TV news coverage is sadly lacking in in-depth stories to back up their sensational headlines. So I would like to also thank Watching You, JR, starry, and all the others who have pulled articles from hither and yon and posted them for the rest of us to read. It has helped me to stay abreast of the days happenings without staying up all night hunting for real news. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 5. I like using "ditto" if I agree with what Dunvegan is doing with the forum. Who came up with that? Prayers for all. Especially for the rescue workers still working non-stop. The emotional stress they are going through must be unbelievable. How great our country truly is. We are pulling together and we won't let these poor excuses for humans destroy us. I could open a florist shop and not have to buy vases for many moons and I have barely begun to wade through the boxes. Sad isn't it? Have a terrific Tuesday Y'All. Dang Tricia - how did you beat me - it isn't even midnight yet. Missing Austingirl but know she is quite busy at the moment. Re: Parrots for pets. Not one of you has admitted how much mess they make. Sparky is gonna ban each and every one of you if she gets one. However, Sparky, they are right in that parrots are fun and never shut up. I still crack up when Serena says (bird to cat), "Otis, Otis...I'm gonna kick your butt." Edited to say - Thank you Dun. I am amazed at your patience. I'm sorry that some have not advanced beyond the playground sandbox and probably would be ashamed for their respective families to see how they carry on on a message board, but that's their problems and not mine. Posted by dustii on 04:18:52 9/25/2001 Can anyone help me please? I'm from a fairly small town here in Aus, and quite a distance from the main towns etc where they had condolence books to sign; so I decided to make my own. Last week I had it in the arcade outside my shop, and this week it's doing the rounds to different shopping centres, schools etc., in the locality. It has been very popular with lots of people wanting to let you all know of their thoughts and prayers, and just sending their condolences. Early next week, I plan to send it on to the mayor of New York. Was wondering if anyone could post an address to send it to please. We all feel so helpless over here, so this is just one small way of letting you know we are with you all the way, and thinking of you daily. By the way, I just wanted to say, from an outsider's point of view, that I think George W. Bush is doing a great job. He is thinking logically about his plan of attack, and going about it in a way I have to say I admire. I hope you are all feeling proud of the way he is handling things as well. I think I speak for most Americans when I say the support we have gotten from our neighbors has been a godsend. NYC needs every bit of support it can get now - support of the heart, such as your book, is some of the best kind of support. I don't think I will ever wake up on a Tuesday morning again without remembering it as the anniversary of that terrible black Tuesday on September 11. It does bother me a little that the Taliban says we will burn, but I'm not naive enough to think America is going to get out of this without attacks here on our own land. So, what's it going to take? Is the entire country like this forum right now? Is there strife and hatred against our fellow man in America? When the bad guys hit us, will we love our neighbors then? Wasn't NYC enough? I guess not. I don't have time for this hatred. I am too busy loving my family and my neighbors. I will add my Ditto to the rest and say I look forward to the day we can speak on this forum without being humped by every wannabe trouble maker that shows up. Have a day. Don't know if I would want the constant talking... and now I find out they poop a lot too. Daughter had a parakeet... that would probably be the right kind of bird, but I do have a cat... hate to see anything caged.. CensusGrrl, no way, no way... ever see the movie "Williard"?.. Spookey... no rodents. Seeker, rabbits are very cute, but I want something to train and take in the car.. Starry, I would love an elephant, I love, love them.. but it can't come in the house. I think LurkerXLKDSLKC is right on though. I've seen these little critters and think they are adorable. Mentioned it to Mr. S and he said no way but I always get my way anyway if that is what I want. Am gonna check them out now... see if I can put shoes on them for running on the slick floor in the house, see if they are house trainable, need spaying, and just what do they eat. Wouldn't put them with the chickens cause I want a clean goat. Can they sleep in bed with you? How often do then have to go outside to potty, etc..... Voyager, thank you thank you thank you! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! It arrived yesterday. Please email me, ok? Oh, and Voyager, I have owned 3 Giant Schnauzers, Lassie, Archie, and Spunker.... they are wonderful... last one was mean, very mean......and very big and very mean...the big ones need a firm handler which I have learned NOW how to be that way.... "WTC" Posted by Jellyjaws on 10:03:42 9/25/2001 NOTE: This message was last edited 10:03:42, 9/25/2001 To be honest, I never liked the Twin Towers and thought they spoiled the elegant NYC skyline. Our main office was there so I'd have to go down a couple of times a year. If you arrived between 8 & 9am, the sound of all those shoes hitting the lobby floor was remarkable. Then, there were the elevators, a system of locals and expresses that always made my ears pop. The World Trade Center stuck in the craw of a lot of New Yorker's because it was sort of foisted on us by Gov. Nelson Rockefeller. He floated bonds or something, and talk was that the WTC was only to boost his family's real estate interests in the financial district, i.e., Chase Plaza. One of the towers stood damn near empty for years and years with only government employees in residence. Anyhow, I can see it out the window, all that smoke. That was a sight! The World Trade Center is gone but the people are more important. Edited to add: Yikes! Part of that didn't come out right. "Government employees" are also unsung heroes of our society. The point was that the Goverment sponsored the towers. They built these huge buildings but couldn't rent out space to the private sector. Sooooooo, the government rented to itself. I have been a member of the WS forum (the REAL one, not the stolen one) for several years, and I am also an assistant moderator on the ACR forum. Seeing all the devestation in NYC has cast a pall over me these last couple of weeks. I have watched more television in the last two weeks than I have watched in the last four years. I live in a very rural area of Kansas. The pile of debris at ground zero is taller than any of the buildings we have here. I think Dun has done a WONDERFUL job on this forum since she has taken it over. I know I will enjoy posting here. For all the cat lovers here: I have 13 cats so cat hair is flying around my house constantly. They are all spayed or neutered. For what it is worth, here are my opinions on some random things: Patsy Ramsey did it. Michael Skakel did it. OJ Simpson did it. Jeffrey McDonald did it. Lizzie Borden did it. The West Memphis Three did it. Robert Blake did it. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 41. "Hi, Webbycat, and Welcome!" Posted by DAWN on 15:38:01 9/25/2001 Thought I'd like to share this e-mail I just received from my cousin who comes from New York... Dear All: Giving you an update on the attempts to keep on keeping on. I went down to ground zero last night with my friend Peter. Lots of New Yorkers have been going down in the past few days, simply, I think, to grasp the reality of it. Others, with their camcorders and cameras, are documenting an enormous graveyard for the most macabre vacations snaps they'll ever own. It probably would have been better to go a few days ago when we would have been able to see more. In the past day or two they have blocked most of the sightlines with city buses and tarps but gawpers (including myself) can still stand on the street corners and peer west down Vesey and Liberty Streets from Broadway. It's really quite extraordinary--steel girders hanging down from the corners of smashed buildings, the high piles of rubble, and of course, the eerie, elegant exterior wall of one of the towers that is still standing, its jagged edges reaching at least 12,15 stories high. The awnings and interiors of many stores and buildings are still covered in soot and ash and messages are fingerpainted on the walls: "Texas is with you," "Seattle loves New York." The steel barricades lining the streets are covered in white paper where people from all over the country have scribbled words of support. Union Square is covered in the same kinds of posters. It's a shame that New York doesn't have a spot where formal condolence books have been set up, because it's obvious that many people want, or more likely need, to say something. We went to Bubby's for dinner afterwards--we thought it would help to support the Tribeca businesses, most of which are shuttered or half-empty--and we sat at a booth that had a view straight out the front door to Hudson Street. While we were having dessert, a convoy of flatbed trucks went by, each carrying a load of twisted steel beams. Each beam was spray painted with a tag, "WTC7," IDing the building it came from. Even Bubby's famous key lime pie might as well be a plate of that grey ash blowing outside when you watch that go by. It's all going to take a lot of time. This made me feel cold inside... dawn [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 62. "Help!" There were NO metal detectors to go through (although they were searching bags) and NO security upon entering the parking garage under Lincoln Center. LOL) Just in case anyone wants to know, this is what I believe: Patsy did it, John's covering, and Burke is scared. Darlie did it. OJ did it. Condit did it. Blake hired it done. Skakel did it. I am sure I missed someone, but hey, I am sure I will get around to it. ;o) Anyways, I just wanted to check in and say hi to everyone. Dun, thanks for turning the key for me! Posted by arnie023 on 20:35:20 9/25/2001 Forgive me, but *gulp* I dont know about that case. :o( Can you point me in the right direction? Oh, I just realized who I forgot... Yates: I say nail them both. She may have done the terrible deeds, but he is the one that kept after her to have more kids which drove her to it. "**sigh**" Posted by Gemini on 22:47:42 9/25/2001 I feel like I just walked in my front door and found the daughters beating up on each other : (. A lot of us have been here a long time now. Every once in awhile, these feeding frenzies are gonna happen. The Ramseys are usually the main course. Tonight, it seems to be Chris (with paralegal, brightlight, pedro, Baybb and a few others as entrees and dessert). So, Dun took a step she thought necessary by taking the status of this forum public. No prob, since it seems to have accomplished the timely transfer of the forum (well ... timelier than it might have been otherwise). That worked out. But, what the h*ll is the point of the feed? Just sounds like the munch-munch of frantic grazing to me. Some of it really makes a good point for not sending emails or talking IM about things you'd care for others reading, tho. Man oh man, I make it a point never to do that. WY, glad you're feeling better. Hope you're OK, too, Starry. When are you going to Vermont? If it's soon ... have a good safe trip. Mini, did you get The Lion's Game yet? I loaned it to my near-future son-in-law the other day, and he's deeply into it. Daughter says he won't even turn on TV at night ... just keeps reading : ). Prayers and postitives for Carl, 'shell, all in need. [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ EMAIL Gemini ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] ARCHIVE REMOVE
