Posted by RiverRat on 04:33:42 9/26/2000 Just wanted to say Good Morning to everyone. To my fellow Floridians, the bugs and storms we shall never fear, but be careful, O.J.'s here! Come on WY, all we got was "have a day" - on a Monday at that?! How about "have an Energizer Bunny Tuesday" so that we can keep going.....and going..and going. JUSTICE FOR JONBENET. "Good morning" Posted by Greenleaf on 05:53:26 9/26/2000 A bit of chill is in the air, with the promise of a beautiful day, here in the old Port City. My garden tool shed has been built, and the contents of my utility room are about to be transferred into its roomy interior. Cher has been my inspiration for making my back yard into a show place. I have all kinds of plans, and am just now getting started. A friend emailed this to me. It's all about kitchens. >>1. A messy kitchen is a happy kitchen and this kitchen is > delirious. > >> 2. "Toosday" Posted by Watching you on 07:18:43 9/26/2000 and all is well in WNY. Chilly, damp, fall-like, I can see five squirrels running around outside my office window, probably gathering up acorns and nuts and stuff for winter. There are a lot of nuts around here, so we need a lot of squirrels, haha. Some guy in New Zealand has recorded a CD of a lawnmower, complete with the blade hitting stones and all. They are selling like hotcakes, no kidding. Seems those neighbors who have been kept up all night by the partying fools next door now have a get-even weapon - the next morning whilst said neighbors are in bed nursing sleeping or nursing a hangover, stick that CD in the stereo, hang a couple of speakers out the window, turn it up full blast, and let those ponies ride, LOL. I have some people I'd like to try that out on. RiverRat, just for you - Have a Toosday... [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 5. "saw the house" Posted by Cher on 07:34:23 9/26/2000 Greenie, I am thrilled that I am an inspiration! Soon you will be putting up pics of your gardens. Sunday I went to the Somerset area to see my friend's house. As a result, I have two strange stories to tell. The house is on a dead end street but it is in the middle of the block and so consequently you can see the neighbors (recluse comment--ick). It has new siding, roof and replacement windows. Inside Vicki is going to have to tear out the kitchen linoleum (yuck) and replace it, which she already has ordered. There are lots of little handyperson projects, which is good because this will allow my friend to put her own personal stamp on the house. For example, in the upstairs bedroom some dummy painted a room florescent pink and put wood-grained Contact paper above the bed as a sort of headboard. Now you really have to ask, what were they thinking? Eeeks, and if that wasn't enough, they painted another bedroom and the back entryway florescent yellow. You know, the yellow color you find on a Magic Marker highlighter? Double eeek. Of course, I noticed this immediately and my friend said, "I never even noticed it!" But she agrees it has to go! The chestnut trim is intact, however, and is in excellent shape on all the doors, too! That is remarkable. Almost always trim is painted over (dummies!) (Hey this is an opinion forum.) OK, now for the strange stories. Did I mention this friend has a propensity for synchronicities? A big consideration for her in the purchase of a house is the amount of property she would have for a dog to run around on. Like Janab's dog, Vicki's dog also had Cushing's disease. She loved and cared for that dog right up to the very end and was crushed when he passed on last year. She is ready to get a new dog, however would not do so until she had enough room for the dog to, well, be a dog. Property is very expensive here and it's all most people can do to buy the home, let alone any space to go along with it, so of course I was concerned about how she'd accomplish this. After seeing the house, I went out back to investigate gardening space. To my amazement, the backyard seemed to go on forever. I asked a neighbor where the property line was and he told me. I asked, well, what is that, gesturing toward a path that lead into a forest area. He told me it was "green acres," which is land set aside by the government that will never be developed. I asked how much land and I believe he said 35 acres, which is a lot of land! Incredible!! I about choked! I went back in the house to drag my friend out and show her the great place she would have to walk her dog! We took a path into the green acres and walked and walked until we got tired of walking. It is amazing!! She, too, was dumbfounded. What's even more amazing is that this 35 acres is surrounded by houses on the perimeter and there is no public access to it. So in other words, less than maybe 60 houses surround this huge area and you can't get to it except through their back yards! Well, this is so long I will tell my other synchronicity story another time. Cher . [ REMOVE ] [ ALERT ] [ EDIT ] [ REPLY ] [ REPLY WITH QUOTE ] [ TOP ] [ MAIN ] 7. "sittin shivah in pleasantville...." Posted by mame on 08:30:18 9/26/2000 was a title i coined a year ago yesterday when the grand jury investigating jonbenet's death returned from their several month hiatus...one year ago yesterday. it was my first day covering "the circus" at the "injustice center" in boulder. it's the day i first met the big guy in the suspenders...(frank coffman introduced us)...toppcat offered his magic...holly manned the underground parking garage with my cell phone...and our dear panico stepped forward to help form the outstanding team that brought you hour to hour news during the final days of the grand jury. toppcat and i talked about bringing back the news audios and possibly having chris find posts from the archives from a year ago as a one year tribute to our cyber quest for justice. please post if there is an interest in doing such a tribute. it's a gorgeous day and i'm still sittin' shivah...but, outside pleasantville... All that "free" land! I'm really surprised the realtor didn't play that up early on as a strong selling point. Or perhaps that was the case, but it didn't sink in until she actually saw how accessible it was. Voyager, szundi, and shana - I finally was able to access the wedding pictures yesterday. The setting was spectacular. The bride is just beautiful and so is her mom. Much congratulations and joy to the happy couple. Thanks for sharing.
